Yes, that's exactly what E-On have just said...you weren't the CSA I spoke to just now were you??;)
I just object to them sitting on my money all year, when it could be in my offset mortgage account!
I'm going to change suppliers now....but will probably go to one who will raise their tariff the week after I join!

We currently have gas with Ebico for Gas and British Gas for electricity (Click 4) and a few days back received our £40 cash-back from QuidCo - The reason for separate gas and electricity was it worked out cheaper for us.
Now that the £40 has cleared, we have today actioned a switch to Scottish Power Fixed 'til 28 Feb 2011. OK it is a few £ more than what we are paying BGas for electricity, but only fractionally more, hardly anything, plus we'll get £32 cash-back for switching electric only to them and then there's the chance the prices will go up by 2011 so we'll have saved there.
Won't be switching the gas as it is too much of a difference to take the hit now. With electricity you have to use it day in day out. With the gas, you can switch the heating off and only use a little when cooking, just heat up hot water when needed, so that will stay with Ebico for now. (Maybe a wrong choice, but like anything it's all a gamble - our gamble back at the beginning of 2005 with EDF (SWEB) paid off, hopefully this will too.
You can't switch the fridge off or freezer off for example, you need lighting and use of a PC and TV, so electricity for us is the important one to get fixed. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I'm currently on Eon's online energy extra saver v5 tarrif. With my useage details of around 15000kwh gas and 5500kwh elec (London area), quote's from several comparison sites for Scot. Power's fixed price tariff showed a cost increase to me of 28%!
But when I work out the details on paper using Eon's and SP's own pence per unit figures, I calculate it as closer to an 8% increase
Can anyone help to clarify why the big difference?
EON v5, no standing charge:
Elec: First 900kwh=16.4955p Remainder=8.589p
Gas: First 4572kwh=3.23505p Remainder=2.57355p
Scot.Power fixed, no standing charge:
Elec: First 900kwh=16.976p Remainder=9.276
Gas: First 4572kwh=3.870p Remainder=2.641p0 -

Are there discounts for dual fuel, DD payment etc that you haven't taken into account
On the comparison websites you can see details of the SP prices for the tariff they have shown and you can compare with those you have quoted above.0 -
Paul,
I too am on Eon 5, and get a 29% diff, but the Mar 11 fix is tempting, as Eon's fix is only for new customers, my Gas tariff is as per yours, but is your have the EOn elec without Vat and Gas with ?, Elec should be 17.07, and 9.09, or is that due to me being in the Manweb area ?
Possibly as the SP fxd rates I have been quoted incl. VAT are Gas first 4,572 3.907p then 2.585p, and elec first 900 18.088 and 10.883p.
If I could get your SP rate the inc. would be 22% and I'd go for that via Quidco given the BG price warning today.0 -
Just rang SP and my gas is virually the same price, but electricity would go up nearly 40% using price fix
Current prices ex vat
Gas first 1143 kw 3.616 / 2.567, price fix 3.990 / 2.567
Electric first 225kw 14.280 / 6.497, price fix 16.48 / 9.024
Dosent look good0 -
Oh, my head is spinning after reading the above messages. I think the problem is that the rates you will be getting will be dependent on where you live. I contacted SP via email and asked them for the rates. I am on Energy Saver Online and pay c£147 pm DD. They reported back that electricity price remains unchanged. However, gas will go up by 13.7% until the end of the term i.e. 2011. You also have to pay £3 pm extra. I decided to go for it simply because I can see that fuel prices keep going up by double digit figures. I'm sure the price has doubled in the last 3-5 years.

If my electric had stayed similar i would have switched immediately as our electric is constand whereas gas is very very low through the summer0

Not sure what I am doing wrong - currently with BGas for both gas and electricity. Considering switching one or both over to SPower - not sure how I find my annual usage for both gas and elec but probably around £500 for gas and £400 for electricity at a guess.
I have went through to SPower's site and it asked for my post code after which I entered my annual bill and gas only. It has not came back with the 2011 fix as an option....where am I going wrong?Mortgage when started October 2011 : £94,134
Total mortgage balance Mar 2016 [STRIKE]£78,417[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£77,523[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£76,181[/STRIKE] £72,001

Your usage will be on your past bills (i.e. the number of KWh of each you have been charged for.
You need postcode because each supply region has different prices.
HTH
MPI have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.
