Can you explain this a little further please - i'm not very technical? what is RF and EPG? :-[
Thanksrx
for sure:)
EPG (Electronic program guide) is a guide to the programs coming up which you can bring up on screen. Best example is Sky Guide on the Sky Digital satellite service, but freeview has (recently-ish) started a full 8 day EPG (so you can see what's on for the next 8 days, and set reminders etc). Not all boxes support this yet, and the ones that don't will only tell you what's on now and next. Needless to say most of the cheapo ones don't (yet?)
RF is the most basic method of connecting your freeview box to your TV by plugging your aerial connection into the freeview box, then from the box into the TV. Some boxes inject the picture into the signal to the TV (so you can tune your TV into it just like another channel) and some only loopthrough so you have to connect the freeview box via SCART connection to see the picture from it.
Old tellys without SCART will of course require the former, but there's quite a few boxes which only do the latter.
BTW @coolagarry, I hear you but see my previous comments about decent boxes and the reviews by Which (seems they're a bit misguided at the least)0 -
Ok in my excitement only just noticed Ben's post, cheers think that just about answers how it works etc but where can I get this gadget for end of cable, I have terrible reception here for teletext
As stated in the quote of mine you posted these fittings are readily available at B&Q storesFour guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

the cheapest way to get digital tv (for free!!) ..if you already have a sky digibox n dish and have had yr contract for 12months+ just cancel your membership! you get to keep you digibox which still receives a digital signal so you get a great digital picture and the freeview channels.. thats what ive done. for some strange reason i dont get ITV2 but get all the others including the brand new ITV3 for absolutely no monthly or one off fee!!0

I recently bought the Sagem ITD62 (?) from Woolies who price matched an Alba in Argos at £39.99, a reduction of £10 on their normal selling price for this model. I was happy to buy the Sagem as I already have an older bigger model which Sagem replaced for me free of charge when I lost a chanel due to TUTV changing all the chanel numbers around, great service there.
I also wanted one with two scart sockets for video and dvd etc. No space for TUTV card.
Wouldn't recommend the little Bush one, can't remember the model number, but Tesco are selling in instore for £44.95. The first one I bought was over-heating and I found it sitting in a pool of water, second just stopped one day. The assistant told me that although they had sold loads they also had loads returned and accepted my return without question.0 -
Echostar T101+ (certainly the most reliable of the cheapo boxes) 44.99 at woolies.
Are you sure that woolies do this? I can't find it at their online store at least.0 -
I recieved a fergason freeview box last christmas,it worked for a day . in the end i replaced the aerial with the dearest one in argos and fitted an expensive shielded wall connector before realising it was the aerial lead i got from argos a few months earlier too thin to do the job. if you replace the lead make sure it is a nice thick one with a solid copper core from somewhere like maplins.0

Hi all,
I bought a box 18 months ago for £100, i allows me to view approx. 10 other channels.... BBC3, ITV3, pricedrop etc plus i have about 20 radio channels on it and parliament etc. Can't remember what it was called though, anyone know?
Mine has a slot for a card, anyone know what extra this will get me, how much it costs and where i can get it?
What is the difference between this and freeview?
Thanks
