  • Hi,

I've never posted here before but I want to find out more about how to get TV from an old cable service - the link to the instructions doesn't seem to be working or is that just me. We can't get a signal to get tv through an aerial and so from my understanding can't use freeview and we now pay ntl a fortune for stuff we don't watch. I'd be really grateful if someone could pass on the instructions.

    Thanks!!
Old Faithful we roam the range together,
Old Faithful in any kind of weather,
When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is yellow tonight,
Giddy up old fella cos the moon is mellow and bright,
There’s a coyote crying at the moon above,
Carry me back to the one I love,
And you old faithful pal of mine.
  • This looks a heck of a bargain - a brand name freeview box (hauppage dec 1000-t) for £31.50!

    http://www.shop.bt.com/bin/venda?ex=co_wizr-shopcart&mode=add&log=22&ivref=ccr159&bsref=btshop&layout=default

If link above doesn't work, goto Bt shop, search for freeview and it's the damaged box one down from £50 to £35. Then apply code 4324 for 10% off (if it doesn't work, phone BT shop to get them to manually apply it) - bingo - a freeview box for £30!
  • What are the options for europe? Can I get a freeview card and place it in the sky digibox?

    I've been Money Tipped!
I just bought a Goodmans GBD3 Freeview box from Argos the other day.  It was £49.99 but...

I changed over my token electric meter with Scottish Hydro Board to paying by Direct Debit.  This gives me cheaper electricity, 6% discount too and also 36 premier points per £1 of electricity I use.  I get premier points added to my Premier Points card every quarter.  I had forgotten about it and when I was checking out the boxes the other day I came across the card in the depths of my purse and checked out the points value and I had £20 on it so I got my Freeview box for £29.94.  I paid with it with my Tesco card and will get points on that too.

BTW, Which had recommended the GBD3 box awhile ago now but it was recommended. It is just a basic box, no Top up TV slot but never mind, does us fine and for £30 I'm not complaining.

Once again, unhappily, no. Sky and Freeview are two completely different routes for delivering partially-overlapping packages of programmes. Basic Freeview in any case uses no card.

Try doing a Google search for "sky satellite europe" and you'll come up with lots of possibilities to view Sky in Europe.
  • Now how about....

    Pace DTVA box for £29-00
Ok so it's a refurb, and only one scart !,
heres the best bit - has card slot and can be upgraded (on air download) for Top up TV.
    Comes to £32-50 incl delivery.

  • There seems to be a rush of interest in the Freeview Digital Boxes this Xmas (me included), but I've found out from my local Curry's that if you cannot pick-up Channel 5 on your analogue TV aerial, then you won't be able to pick-up Freeview .... without I'm assuming additional expense such as having a Digital TV aerial installed. ???

Now I know all the advertising states that Freeview is widely available, but it's going to put most of Bath in a blind-spot, until the Bathampton Transmitter is upgraded. :(
I did check my postcode on the Freeview website, AND it did say that it could not be picked-up, but many people have stated that they have picked-up Freeview even though that the Freeview website stated differently. I was going to take the gamble and buy a box, but as Curry's have given the 'Channel 5' scenario as a guide I'm glad I didn't fork-out the 'dosh' for the box. :-/
It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!

Topup TV   £7.99 pm  ( looks like £20 connection)

and Tele2 telcoms package (  unsure of the package you need to take - but appears from what I have read to be avaialble on the free deals)

    BUT
get a £70 cashback! ( £20 now, £50 after 12 payments to both services- suppose thats maybe a worry- ie will they be around / how much hassle to pay up)

A few ifs and buts, as online ordering does not appear to give all the answers
(ie syas.. £50 upon receipt of your twelfth payment to both services...   what if don't pay them anything for a while and only use freebies )

That said if you like the channels ( not the greatest line up) it could be a cheap way of getting these extras

Bought my Sister in Law the Echostar from Argos, based on a previous post as she had a questionable arial.

This is a great box - great picture, easy install. It's not quite thecheapest, but if you are unsure about your signal, go for this one.

Echostar are well known and respected for their Satellite receiver boxes. You'll know their name if you have a satellite system but don't watch $ky TV. ;)
