I'm a hoarder anyway and tend to buy stuff for the cupboard when it's on special offer. I joke to DH that he'll never starve in this house....
We use very little sugar as neither of us take it, I only buy it for baking with.0 -
I am glad to say I am quids in because of my mountainous stockcupboard. I have enough to keep us going for several months and that includes sources for cooking, lighting and radio. It has been a good way to save and I am still topping up with long dated/no dated items in tins0

I am a great advocate of being well stocked-up with things. Its one way of helping to cope a bit with inflation and ensures one has always got food to eat even if too ill or busy to shop for it.
However - basically, at a societal level, I see households being well stocked-up with everything as something that is necessary for us all - as a way to help us "transition" over to other ways of providing ourselves with food - eg Community Supported Agriculture/Gardenshare schemes/Grow Your Own etc. Ultimately - to me being well stocked-up with food can only ever be a short-term alternative - something to provide ourselves with a "cushion" to help in tiding us over to this.0 -
I'll add this to the thread we already have on rising food prices.
We're about to start the new fruit and vegetable growing year, so that'll soften the F&V bill somewhat
