Magnolia, yes, knickers are in. I sat on the floor yesterday with all my swimware - about 6 sets - and said to OH now I have to choose which to take. All diffrent colours, pink, blue, greens, red. He advised to put them all in as it is a beach holiday so problem solved.

My Travel wash is from Tesco. Glo care, non-bio travel wash ...washes your clothes anytime up to 20 washes. It is a 100ml tube. I payed a £1 or £2 and it keeps untill it runs out. It is very good for hand washing, a small squirt and you have loads of bubbles. I would advise packing a few pegs too! Most SC supply an airer but I have also laughed when peoples washing goes over the balcony with the wind.:rotfl:Now funny realy for the folk who's washing it is.:T

Just had to add my bit, can't type for laughing your post reminded me of the 1st time we went on hols with some friends. We had booked an allocated on arrival holiday, we knew we were going to costa brava but were hoping for llorret de mar (90degrees), but ended up in Estartit as windy as could be, we were sand blasted on the beach but thats another story. Well to get to the point my friend had taken 2 pairs of pants for the week, her daytime pair and her pulling pants, which she washed out alternately whichever she wasnt wearing at the time. Well she got up the 2nd morning and her daytime pants had blown away and were stuck in the 20 foot hedge opposite the hotel for the rest of the week, i cant remember now what she did if she bought some more or what. Best of it was they werent little pants it was just like a flag flying. :rotfl:

Hi Steph, Thanks for the story. It is all light hearted fun on my thread. I like to take just a few pegs to hold the washing down and I sometimes use them on the curtains to hold them closed. Butlins springs to mind, when everyone walks past and has a nose.

depends on the type of holiday and location.

    no 1 size fits all.
  • I've got 25 more sleeps (I am a grown up-honest!)till my holiday and I'm already thinking about how far over 20kg my case will be!

My argument being I am a larger lady, therefore my clothes and larger and weigh more, I do not pack too much. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! lol

My problem came last year when flying with my mum for the first time since I was 10.I thought I over packed but really, she took the biscuit. We had 15kg allowance, my case was around 11kg, hers...18.5kg! Honestly, we were going away for 5 days! lol

For those who carry several chargers for your phones, ipods DSes etc.
Most phones and other gadgets either come with or have USB charging lead available for them. You can geta transformer with a USB output so you need to carry one heavy transformer and only the lightweight cable for each gadget.
Some international plug converters have a USB output or you could buy one like this. Or maplin have some charger sets with "ends" for lots of different gadgets.

Oh, it must be nice to holiday where all you have to wear a shorts and t-shirts and small clothes and able to pack under 12kg etc..

try a city break, totally different scheme of things for packing, as your hotel probably doesn't have facilities to do washing, and you don't stay there, as you're out and about.

So, you have to think about what you're doing. as you're out an about all day from the hotel, you're wearing one outfit, so by the time you get back to your hotel, you probably want to get showered and changed ready for a meal out, and then some drinks in a bar maybe. So, you really can't just put back on what you've worn, as it's all, ugh, from the day out and about... so for a week away in a city, you can't just take 4-5 outfits really.

Jeans - 7 - 8 pairs, hang them up after wearing them, let them air, and the creases fall back out
t-shirts - as many as i can take, just so i have something different... so at least 10...
    shoes - i wear 1 pair, that's it
    jacket - wear that

holiday in march - winter coat - ooh it can be so freezing in NYC in March at times!!!

yeah.. so all in all, i think i get to about 18kg-19kg for a week away, (on TATL flights, you normally have a 23kg limit) which ain't too bad considering it is winter still, and i've got a variation of things to wear.

for Gran Canaria last year, i think my case was about 16kg, but i do have a hard samsonite case, so that weighs a fair bit too...

    onto hand luggage

1 - laptop plus charger, ensuring i've changed from UK lead to US Lead.
    2 - 2 x cameras, plus chargers and leads.
3 - 2 x iPhones, 1 which is UK, 1 which is my US Sim, plus 1 charger
4 - Travel Pillow, tis comfy
    5 - if i remember, a book

that normally get split into 2 bags anyway, with laptop, phones, and the relevant chargers in one, with the rest in a pull along. this gives me more space for any fragile stuff i buy on holiday (aka more techy gadgets)

yes, ok, i've done a lot of trips, and i've got used to packing, and as i'm in NYC, if i forget anything, run out of clean clothes, ooh there are loads of shops, so i ain't too fussed really...

    M
oh.. and btw julie_d, you don't "ware" clothes, you "wear" them, I see you've already edited your first post for spelling, but leave that glaring error in... ;)

Hi Markymoo and every one else :hello:. The cases are nearly packed and will be closed tomorrow night. 17kg in each. I would not take to kindly if they were just under 15kg as I paid £30 to bring them up to 20kg.
No one has asked where I am going yet so I thought I would tell...
Oh and I are going to Tenerife on Tuesday for 2 wks.
