Sorry! Feeling guilty - was doing well today - had porridge for breakfast, 3 pieces of fruit at lunch but then we had a takeaway tonight!Must start a chart - that usually focuses my mind.

Hi everyone,I'd love to join if I may? I really, really want to do something about my weight as it affects my self confidence so much. Currently 14stone 2lbs, looking to get to about 11 stone. Going on my holidays next week and it's also my birthday while we're away, but am going to treat myself to a wii fit thingy (if I can get my hands on one) when I get back.Happy to have found this thread. My first goal is to loose a stone.
Mainly eat out of habit, must break this!!0 -
Hi,
I think most of us that have joined in the thread have at some time or are now at weight watchers, so we had/get the info, as a rough guide, 1 point is about 70 cals and it can depend on the sat fat in each item as well. There is a quizz you take to get your points. I am at work just now but I will cut and paste it for anyone who needs it later on tonight. I post a link further up that gives you points for any food as long as you have the cals and sat fat, it is one of WW own calculators that you can use on there site. Look under my user name. I am 5" 2 and at present weight 11.3 and I am on 18 points a day, but my job and age come into it, so I'll post later on.

Hi as promised is the quiz you take to get your points for each day.
Are you:
Female = Score 3
Male = Score 9
Are you a breastfeeding mother?
No = Score 0
Yes, breastfeeding exclusively = Score 10
Yes, supplementing breastfeeding with solid foods = Score 5
How old are you?
16 - 20 = Score 5
21 - 35 = Score 4
36 - 50 = Score 3
51 - 65 = Score 2
Over 65 = Score 1
How many stones do you weigh?
Ignore the lb, the number of stones is your score for this question. Someone who weights 12st 4lb will score 12
How tall are you?
Under 5ft 4ins = Score 1
5ft 4ins or above = Score 2
In your day to day life are you:
Sitting down most of the time = Score 0
Occasionally sitting, but mainly standing = Score 2
Walking most of the time = Score 4
Doing physically hard work most of the time = Score 6
You should retake this quiz if you drop down to the next stone bracket
or if you have a birthday which takes you to the next age bracket0 -
Hi everyone! I've tried WW in the past and failed miserably, partly because I used to have a busy social life (the days before kids!) and partly because I couldn't be bothered counting every single point, so I'd start off really enthusiastically, then just get fed up.
But I had the same attitude towards debt too until I discovered this site, so perhaps this could be just what I need. Can I join, but just diet/eat better without strictly counting the points? I know how it all works and what's good/bad, I just don't have the time to write out food diaries every day. Anyway, according to the quiz aove, I'd be allowed nearly 40 points a day whch is just ridiculous - that's more than I'd eat anyway!
I had a baby 6 wks ago, and haven't weighed myself since, but...pains me to admit this in public...I reckon I'm somewhere around the 19 stone mark. I'm 5'9", size 20-22 on top, 22-26 bottom depending on fit. I need therefore to lose about 7stone and see how things look then! I'm quite a big person and always told I 'carry it well' (i.e. no pieces of cutlery lost in the folds yet!) but I really need to get in shape before I turn into one of the sort of people you only see on Ch5 TV programmes called 'Worlds somethingest something'.
I also don't want my 2 little boys to be the kids at school with the fat mum!
Will commence weigh-ins just as soon as I can either find our scales (moved house the day baby was born, hence rather disorganised!) or get along to Boots.
Good luck everyone!0 -
Hi
Pandapaws
Congrats on your new baby. I think you should do what ever suits you. As you say you have been before and know the basics. Start when you get your scales found and keep coming on here for support. I would like to be your height not the 5" 2 that I am. Its my weigh in day tomorrow only expect a 1lb loss but at least its coming off. slow small changes make all the difference keep that in mind and have small targets of 1/2 stone say. that is what I'm doing.
good luck and I look forward to your update soon, you make sure you enjoy that lovely new baby as well.

It is possible to lose weight using portion caution!! I have been doing for 15 months now and have lost 10kgs. It can be done and because it's a long term - re-educate your body plan - the weight stays off.
I've never done WW cos I'm too mean to pay out but with portion caution when you compare the meal sizes with what you eat now compared to what you did eat. The comparison is quite shocking - how much we just cos it's on the plate!!
Admittedly reading Paul Mckenna has helped because he makes you question whether you are actually hungry or just plain bored!!
It is a slow acting plan to follow but the results are worth it.
