Cheers - added it to the "grabbit" post (which has now been moved - I thought it was a grabbit...), but forgot to add it here.

Bought my Tom Tom on eBay. Purchased the software on an RS MMC 256mb card. Also Blue Tooth receiver. Comes with speed camera data base. Total cost £45.00. Use it in my Nokia 6680. Perfect.

Mr Skint, I think we all know how to get from A - B without difficulty. The beauty of sat nav is actually finding the exact house or whatever we want to get to. It really comes into its own in the last few minutes of each journey and then saves a lot of time, frustration and petrol.

My husband got the TOMTOM navigation system for his Palm on Saturday at PC World for £149 including the GPS thingy and Europe... - he thought this was a very good deal!
What model did your husband get ????
  • I drive regularly to Germany and have often considered buying one of these navigation gadgets for finding my way around the towns and cities over there. But after reading all the posts on here I am absolutely flummoxed. All the talk about "Garmin" "Tom-Tom's" "Bluetooth" "Downloading from the internet" etc. Can someone tell me what the bare necessities are? I just want to be able to fit it in the car .. set the destination in and go.. No downloading camera sites.. or "PDA's" (What's a PDA?) I don't want to use it in conjunction with a phone as I don't use mobile phones. Anybody know the simplest method please? Bingalau ..
  • All you safety conscious drivers out there who want extra warning about dangerous locations the police have kindly set this up for you.

By putting traffic safety camera's in these locatations, all you need is a free map of the speed cameras and you are sorted. Visit https://www.pocketgpsworld.com and download their Safety camera database for free... it could save you from a accident (and Points and £££'s)

Most models are covered, and if yours does not seem to be look through the forums, I even managed to find a way for my sailing GPS.

    That's an illegal copy.

It is quite clear in TomTom's T&C's that the licence is not transferable. Even if it was it would cost rather more than what you paid for it.

  • Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but the new plastic windscreen fitting on this model breaks very easily, so I'd avoid those at the moment. The company do send out replacement ones free of charge, but it's unnecessary hassle.
