Great 'Sat Nav' Hunt (merged)

Just bought my i3 from PC World the other day. It didn't seem to be keeping power. It would just shut down on it's own for no reason using either batteries or the cigar lighter. Took it back and PC World did a straight swap for a new one. Since getting the new one, I can say I am amazed at this piece of kit. I drive for a living, so this is an absolute godsend. No more driving around with an A-Z looking for address's. Just put in the postcode and away you go. I have been looking at getting sat nav for a while, but always thought they were expensive, but for £199, this will pay for itself over and over again in my line of work. If anyone is thinking of getting sat nav, and not sure which model to get, then I would highly recommend the i3. Read the reviews on the web, and they are all positive.
Thanks Martin for pointing out yet another great deal.

Thanks Ian,
Glad of some advice.
The supermarkets seem to sell the Mitac mio clones. I'll watch out for a bargain.
I'm concerned that to buy off ebay is always a bit of a risk, probably worth the extra to buy new with a PDA/Satnav.0 -
I just replaced my wired GPS with a bluetooth as I wanted something I could walkaround with rather than being tied to just using it in my car. Bought via ebay seller: inter-activeinformation for around £45 and worked perfectly right out the box. SATNAV is superb in the car ... SATNAV in your pocket just adds value x2 for little extra cash!
Not sure how risky buying from ebay is keithwales ... truth is it's like any marketplace. You just need to keep your eyes open.0 -

you will find a lot of the ones on ebay are imported but i guess as there all made abroad so are all imports in a way:D so as long as u stick to a seller with loads of positive feedback u should be ok.aldi and lidl do the mitac clones for £199 every few months so may be worth looking at.they come with different navigation software but have good reviews, also being a pda you could always buy different software(tom tom etc) at a later date if you wanted.
as mentioned above if you choose a pda with built in gps u can also use it anywhere not just in your car.

Hi,
Just about to buy the i3 from Garmin, has anyone had problems picking up a signal in their car? Has anyone used this unit in a 3 year old Astra?
Thanks

No problems at all so far. Works really well. Don't forget, it takes a few mins to pick up a signal when you first set it up. Don't forget to use the discount codes (depending on where you get it from).0 -
