Keren you must have literally read my mind - I've just this second finished eating an omlette with tomatoes and mushrooms. I didn't have the cheese though, never thought of that! I'm now eating a mullerlight and feeling much less hungry.

I've got some Nando's peri-peri marinade in the fridge and Ive just found out it's only 0.5 syns per tbsp, so I'm thinking of doing 'something' with that.....maybe marinade some quorn fillets and then have them with corn on the cob and sw chips?

How would I cook the quorn though - under the grill/in the oven/griddle pan? And what do I count the chips as? I know the potatoes are free, but then you spray them with oil don't you?

I'm trying to branch out from my diet of shredded wheat, eggs, yoghurt, fruit and pasta, but I'm so crap at cooking!

Slightly off topic, has anyone had a weird fruit thing that I think is called dragon fruit? It looks spectacular, although tastes a bit dull. Had some at Xmas at my Mum and Dad's but I've never seen it for sale anywhere.

Heya Snags! You can spray them with fry-light spray...that is what I use...used to be free and I assume it is still is? As I use it all the time :D so hopefully it still is! I will be making SW chips later for tea with fried egg and spaghetti hoops! Yum!

Thanks Donner :) - I've got some fry-light, but I'm never sure how many squirts you can have 'free'. I was considering egg, chips and beans (how naughty...on a diet!!) but I've just had an omlette so I don't fancy that now.

There's some for sale at the local Morrisons. I was thinking of trying it, but I'd just end up deep frying it... ;)

It's sort of pleasant but dull Zed - like a cross between melon and plain flour!

With it being a dragon fruit though, may I suggest 'flame-grilled' (geddit? :p) as an alternative to deep fried?

Slimming World chips are free food on a Green day. Chop potatoes into chip or wedge shapes. Par-boil for a few minutes then drain in a colander. Spray an oven tray with Frylight (syn free) lay the chips/wedges out in a single layer, spray again (adding garlic salt etc if liked) and cook in a hot oven for 30-40 minutes.

The only stipulation with using Frylight is that you don't take off the top and pour it out, lol.

You don't need to be good at cooking, there are lots of quite simple recipes, but it is important that you have a variety of different foods or you will get so bored that you'll quit.

If you go to a group, have a look at some of the recipe books - the 100 Green Recipes is good as is the 100 Free Original Recipes. But for me, the best book of all of them is a small one called Delicious Food Optimising Days - it's full of meal plans which are quick and easy and mostly store cupboard foods, nothing awkward of fancy to buy.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Seriously though Consultant31, thanks, I will give the chips a go tonight I think. I don't go to a group, although I would like to (can't afford at the moment), so yes, I really need to get a bit more variety.
