On other nights, I have had about 1/2 to 2/3 of a plate of food before gritting my teeth, telling myself I am starting to feel full (because I know I am) and then stopping eating.
Well, we have both lost the same amount, yet I have been eating my usual mahoosive portions. Doesnt make sense does itIs it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

My mum had a nervous breakdown when I was a kid, and suffered from severe depression all her adult life. I grew up living with my mum, dad and maternal grandparents. This was primarily because of finacial problems, but also to look after me, because my mum couldnt.
I think I was protected from a lot of the problems to be honest but it does make me wonder if that has possibly shaped what I have become - fat and poor
But now you are changing all that :T :kisses3:But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
have to agree spud - my Mum also had a terrible time, was close to, if did not have a breakdown, over issues which would have been largely caused by lack of money - stay at home mum to 4 kids and my dad being a milkman earning very little money.
My experiences as a child definitely shaped my attitude to money - well, my pre-MSE attitude in that I was terribly ashamed of any kind of debt or even talking about finances.
On the food side, I was very slim until I was 14 and was told some 'stuff' by my Mum and I latched on to food as a comfort. I used to work on a Saturday and get paid in cash (about £7 !!) and would walk past Thorntons on the way to the bus stop. I would buy a quarter of continental and eat them on the 10 minute bus ride home - because they were 'all mine' and I guess that quite quickly food became my 'friend'...."Stay Wonky":D

oooooooooh, but I am spud - I know that eating much more brings my weight loss to a big fat zero - weigh in before last was a maintain and I know I ate slightly more that week and felt more bloated - but even then the portions weren't huge!

Hi everyone - was just checking in and feel I've walked in on something v serious. Just want to thank you guys for your honesty - cos it really helps to know I'm not on my own or the only person who struggles with a few issues in the past which have contributed to the weight thing.Onward and upward - with the odd step to the side

BB, it could be the type of food you choose that makes you feel bloated. Have you tried having original (red) days for a change? There are a few of my members who struggle with green days - though you may love the food, it doesn't love you back
If, like me, you can't do red days, may I suggest that you up your water consumption to a minimum of 2½ litres as that may help to take away the bloatedness.
Also try to vary what you have. Variety can be a key to weight loss and it helps to ensure you get all the nutrients you need. Don't have the same food twice in a day (like the potato) and try to have different foods from one day to the next (hope that makes sense).I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
