 Reporting a 1lb gain for me this week:mad:

Must, Do, Better!!!! I have been really slacking this last week or so, time to pull my socks up as I have a family party in 2 weeks time with people I havent seen in years and the following week the Manchester meet.

Want to fit into my jeans nicely.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

  • Marion - what do you add to your mashed potato to keep it free? I don't normally have it because I like butter in it.........I'm thinking egg yolk and low fat fromage frais?

I just normally add an egg or a bit of 0% Total what ever I have handy that is free. I whip it up with my electric hand mixer for extra creaminess. If I have any milk left out of my allowance I will use that or I have even been known to use Smash:o

Good afternoon all! Well I am grumpy v grumpy... have eaten half a Spicy Italian sub today - for no good reason. 12.5 syns for half the sub - AND I don't eat wheat generally because it messes up my innards! (is that too much info?)

I only ate it because I've been seduced into Mystery Shopping - but then the till receipt didn't print and the machine broke - so I have taken this as a sign that mystery shopping is NOT for me, and I shoud have been home with my family where I belong!!

Never mind - I live and learn. I shall have a nice free food day for the rest of the day. Hope you are all having a better Sunday than me:rolleyes:

I've spent the afternoon trying to analyse the reasons that I'm overweight (apart from the obvious one of eating too much  )

I have a real fear of running out of groceries, in particular food. I go shopping for milk, and come home £100 or more worse off. I know we have so much food in, we dont really have to shop for ages, apart from fresh stuff. It's that bad that I'm wondering if we really struggled when I was a kid. I know we didnt have much money, but wonder if was more than that. I have no-one to ask, so will never know

I also really struggle to control portions. I know on SW you dont really have to, but I feel I should be eating lots less than I do :o

What do you guys think? Am I talking through my arris
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

no, you are not speaking rubbish, you are probably using food as some kind of subconscious security blanket spud.

I am also struggling with the portion 'thing'. I have had to eat tiny portions to lose a stone so far but this week I have eaten 'average' sized portions (or possibly slightly smaller than average) and know they will be too big for me to lose anything this week.

Although, as i'm no psychologist, I could also be talking out of my arris............:rotfl:

To be honest BB, I'm not sure I know what an average or small portion is :o

I'm being really good, avoiding synful food, booze etc but struggle with my portion sizes, then feel really full and uncomfortable

Each time we go to the supermarket, I take a list, yet still walk up and down every blimmin aisle filling my trolley. I get to the check-out and feel so annoyed with myself for doing it again, then get home, and have to fit it in the cupboards somewhere

for me, a small portion is 1 small cereal bowl of whatever we are having for dinner - ie pasta bolognaise, chilli, stew etc....I've got a couple of chinese soup style bowls and I use one of them for lunch for leftovers from the night before and then for dinner. The first couple of weeks, I used this bowl quite a lot and am able to use it after my cookery class as OH often isn't here when I get in, I just have a ladle full of whatever I've put in the SC.

Moving up, a medium portion is ooooooh, thinking about today, this is my food today, which I'm quite worried about, amount wise:

b: 3 rashers of lean bacon, half tin beans, 3 egg yolks (don't do whites!)
l: 2/3 of a takeaway tub size of leftover chilli with 1 jacket potato made into SW wedges with 2 x HE cheese
mid afternoon: the other half of the tin of beans with another baking potato made into SW wedges

    2 mullerlights and 2 bananas

Syns - I wasn't going to have any syns as I went mad yesterday and had 30. However, I had a choccy digestive bar which was 5 and erm...about 5 small squares of homemade toffee..so too many syns again....probably where I'm going wrong I guess, but unless I eat the small portions i'm feeling bloated but at the same time, I just want to keep eating, which is stupid as I was doing well with Paul McKenna's eat consciously and stop when full mantras.

Dinner tonight is roast chicken. I'm going to have the breast meat. I'll probably have 1 breast with some butter beans because I feel I've eaten too much today and then a mullerlight and a banana, but possibly not as it will be late.

I too have the 'shove it all in' problem - usually at the beginning of the month when the shopping OH pays for arrives - trying to contort packets of mince etc so they fit in the freezer!!
