  • Glad so many of you seem to enjoy the Mayflower Sauce!

My diet tip of the week (it's out of the 100 saucy secrets book):

    Tomato and Chilli Sauce:

    Ingredients:

    454g/1lb Plum Tomatoes
    1 Red Onion roughly chopped
1 Red pepper, de-seeded and cut into chunks
    2 garlic cloves unpeeled
1 red chilli, halved and deseeded
    Fry Light
142ml/ ¼ pint stock made with Chicken Bovril
Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper

    1. Preheat over to 220/gas7. Toss together the tomatoes, onion, red pepper, garlic and chilli. Place in a larger roasting tin, spray with fry light and roast for 25 mins until softened.
    2. Remove from the oven and squeeze the garlic from their papery skins, mix again with veg and transfer to a pan
    3. Pour in the chicken stock, roughly mash veg with a fork to make a coarse sauce, season well and reheat before serving.

That should do 4, and is syn free on green and original. The book recommends it with Pasta, Seafood, or low fat sausages, but I had it with a beef stir-fry (beef, mushrooms, yellow and green pepper and carrots) – and it was really yummy!!

Enjoy – if any of you try it – I definitely did!

  • i called into asda tonight for some veg and went the wrong way and found my self round the clothes (silly me) out of curiosity i decided to try on some jeans, my size 18s are way to big for me now but i wear a belt to keep them up, so i git a 16 off the rail and they were too big too i couldnt believe it, i pushed my luck and tried a 14 but im not quite there yet another 7lb off and i will be, i could fasten them but you could see they were too tight. i was amazed, i will never again whinge when i only lose a pound as they are all mounting up. i only wish my top half would go down as quickly as my bottom half im gonna be an awfully funny shape if i keep losing it from this area. lol

Well done northern lass!! :j :T :j Good luck at the docs as well, I hope everything goes ok!!

Well done on the 1 lb off as well Spud - my old class leader used to always hold up a bag of sugar to show you just how much it was! And 1/2 a bag of sugar down aint too bad at all!! :T :T

I got some Quark to try the other day, I was intending to try it in my sauce to have with steak (Quark, with some chicken bovril, steak seasoning and mushrooms and onions) - but I haven't got round to making it yet, so I'll let you know how I go with it! - I'm sure you're all waiting on the edge of your seats! ;)

Anyway - enough with the mammoth posts for me tonight - I'm off to bed!!

    Goodnight all

  • Afternoon all!!

Hope you're all having a good slimming world kinda day!! Mine's been pretty good so far, but I have a quick question?

Do free vegetables count as syns if you make them into soup? The way free fruit does when you juice it?

Free vegetables are free what ever you do to them - you are quite safe to blend them up! Thank goodness for winter as soup is so easy to make and so low or free in syns:T:T

    morning everyone,

was my first weigh in this morn and i'm pleased to say i've lost 1lb:j
Not a lot i know but considering i've had party food and birthday cake plus a take away:rolleyes: i'm pleased. Been doing some planning over weekend for this week, got loads of healthy snacks and meals prepared so it makes it easier for me to stick to. Yesterday was prob one of my hardest days. I was at work all day - started at 7 so never had chance to have breakfast. Took fruit with me for breakfast at work which was fine but forgot to pick up all of my lunch and only ended up with 4 ryvita! Thats all i had all day till i got home at 6 n found out that OH and his mate had ordered PIZZA. My stomach was rumbling soooo much i just caved. Ended up having 4 slices and felt like crap after.

Louise will pm you my targets, cheers

To have had Pizza last night, and still be a lb lighter this morning is pretty good going! (Does anyone else find that, the effect of a blow-out, often depends when in the week you have it?) And like you say you had the party to contend with as well!!

If I've lost anything this week I'll be happy - so well done on the loss! It's better than a gain!! :T :j

  • Good Morning - hope all is well.:j Yesterday in class our consultant spoke to us about weigh in day and how most people have a few treats that they don't count after they get weighed. She said that it can interefere with your weight loss and while we can get away with it for awhile it can and will eventually slow down your weight loss. Realised what she said is true as I do tend to not count things on a Monday so am going to make more of an effort and see if it makes any difference!:o

Here is my plan for today:

Breakfast - oats so simple with frozen fruit and milk (heb+free+hea)

    snack - apple, satusuma, pear

Lunch - Leftover veggie and quorn rice from last night with a poached egg on top

snack - scan bran cakes - (heb+4 syns)

Dinner - SW quorn lasagna with lowfat mozzarella cheese with brocolli - (free+hea+free+6 syns for extra cheese)

Snack - custard to put on scan bran cakes - 6 syns

I did fine yesterday and made a point of not having anything extra just because it was Monday!

    Love
    Marion
