You inspired me while i was out shopping n i've bought some quorn. I've never cooked with it but have eaten it before. I've got a huge pan of quorn chilli on the go as we speak, made it as i normally would amd smells yummy. Does it freeze ok? I assume it does.

Whats quark like? I've noticed it alot in recipies so got some to try.

Yes quorn chilli freezed totally fine although I do use Asdas own make of quorn stuff as I prefer the texture it has. I have another huge pan of mayflower curry which we are all going to have for dinner. I have done a chicken and mushroom curry with boiled rice and I will use the chicken as a HEB:D

I havent seen any quark in our local Asda so I have yet to try it.

Nickynoo do you want to be added to our spreadsheet?

    Hi Guys and Gals,

I find quark a very useful ingredient to have in the fridge. I use it in the following ways:
    • Mix an egg with it along with garlic & herbs to make a "creamy" sauce to go on pasta
    • spread it on bread & pogen rolls/ryvita instead of butter, then add fav free food topping - prawns, smoked salmon, raspberries etc
    • mix sweetner with it to use as a cream alternative on desserts
    • stir in to a pasta n sauce to make creamer
Tonight I'm going to try to make chicken kievs by mixing it with garlic, stuffing it in to the chicken breast and then wrapping bacon around the chicken.

I have also seen receipes for taramisu.

I do find that the one from Tesco's is nicer than the one from Asda's, it isn't as sharp tasting.

Lou, just a pound for me this week.

It has been a bad week in the Spud house, so that's my excuse. Tomorrow is a new week :D

Do you have access to the online log in? If you have, have a look for weetabix cake -really chocolately and quite low in syns if I remember. If you can't, PM me with your email address and I'll see if I can access it to email on.

Have you tried Chocolate Options? 2 syns per drink. Or make some sugar free jelly, again 2 syns for a huge bowl.

Thanks Terri, no I don't have access to the on-line log in! I'm waiting to get Christmas out of the way before I join a class!

I ended up having a packet of Fruit Gums instead! :o But then, they were only 7.5 syns and that's all I'd had all day! Had a bit of a mixed weekend! Had a great day yesterday, but was starving later on last night, and we had a portion of spare ribs between us - I'll need to double check, but on a meat day I don't think the syns are that high? Plus, went out for lunch today, but had a mixed grill - and only ate 3 of the chips (which took every bit of self control I had - almost feels rude when they're already sitting on your plate!! :p ) So for next week - I just need to repeat the 95% that I managed to do well - but just minus the slip ups!

Anyway - activated my gym membership as well - been a bit pushed for time both times we've gone though, so swam 10 lengths yesterday, then did 25 mins cardio today, and then 20 lengths of the pool - not amazing - but it's a start!!

Got my first spinfit class tomorrow night - wish me luck - it kind of terrifies me a wee bit!

    xx
