How many syns do you have a day?

I know they tell you you can have between 5 and 15 a day but i've just read that you should only have up to 15 syns if you've got 2/3 or more stones to loose. My mate has been doing SW too and she trys not to have any syns at all, but i've also heard that you should have a min of 5 syns a day. Confused now (not that it takes much!)
All i know is that when i first joind SW years ago my leader back then said it depended on how much weight you had to loose and she told me i could have between 5 and 10 a day or upto 70 a week.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a no/low syn gravy to have with a Roast Chicken? I'm on a meat day and we're having Roast Chicken tonight, but skipping the gravy's something I always really struggle with!

    xx

I've just looked on the SW site and its says bisto gravy 1 dried tsp = 1syn
    Hope that helps.
By the way i signed up to SW online (got code and it works out same as going to classes which i cant get to) so if anyone wants to know any recipies or syn values just ask.

I have up to 10 syns a day and I need to loose 14lbs altough I have a feeling that I will need to reduce these as I get nearer my target:rolleyes:

I have just made that mayflower curry powder for a chinese chicken and mushroom curry with boiled rice (chicken HEB). Thumbs up from the whole family including OH:T Very DFW too as the meal for 4 came to about £3.00 a Chinese takaway wold have cost around £12 for us all and alot more syns too.

Keep up the good work everyone:j
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

Phew!! I decided just to hope for the best and have a wee tiny bit of bisto - so looks as though that's only been 1 syn used up! :D

They said in my class you should have 10 syns a day, they never mentioned it being related to how much you had to lose - but I suppose that makes sense!

I try to just have as few as possible - usually probably about 3/4 per day! But there are other days where I probably have about 15 (usually at the weekend if I've gone to the cinema or out for a drink or whatever!).

It's actually the healthy extras I struggle with rather than the syns - it sounds weird - but I'm a total milk fiend! And I find it hard only being able to have 1 pint a day! ;)

Is it expensive to join on-line? I don't really wanna go back to the classes since I'm trying not to spend any money that doesn't need spending! I might go look just now!

    xx

PS Glad you enjoyed the curry Lou - I had it with chips last night - yumm!! Mum went out and stocked up on another 2 boxes today to have on stand-by! :p
  • PS I actually just realised I should probably be counting the syns in my cough bottle!! hhhhmmmm... Maybe I'm not doing as well today as I'd thought!!

It's correct that you should have a minimum of 5 syns a day and sometimes, as you get very close to your target that's just the right amount. However, having none is self-defeating as you wouldn't want to live your life without treats would you?

Food Optimising is a plan for life so you need to learn how to incorporate treats into your daily diet in sensible amounts. Going without any syns tends to lead to a major binge further down the line.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Thanks everyone. 5syns sounds sensible enough.
It's £59.99 to join online for 3months so works out more or less the same as going to classes. You pay the full amount staightaway but then you dont have to worry about having money every week or trying to get to class. Plus there's loads of good info online and i prob wont have to buy magazine now.

hhhmmm - yeah I had a look on-line - if I was gonna pay that I think I'd just go to the class though - maybe after Christmas once I've paid off my gym membership I'll think about it! I'll just need to rely on the magazines and book for now!

personally i would not pay that and not have the support of a group. the feeling you get when you stand on the scales and your consultant says you have lost is great and also the support you recieve from other members if you stay the same or gain is invaluable.
this is only my opinion tho, im sure it works for some people and i would never critisize them for doing it this way everyone is different.

Well I'm sorry I haven't been around since I came aboard last week, I don't know where my time has gone recently.

I had a bad weekend, I had a curry from the takeaway and alcohol which I didn't count as syns. No idea why I went off track I can do so well during the week and then the occasional weekend comes along and I go off track. I weighed myself today and was very surprised to find I'd lost 2lbs, so I know I'm going to have to work really hard not to let last weekend creep up on me. So in total I've now lost 7lbs. My clothes are starting to feel a little looser too. I found a weight printout yesterday which was taken 4 weeks after I had my last daughter and I was 3lbs ligther than I am now, that's really shocking really and has spurred me back on to my cause.
