My weight loss has sped up since I lowered my syns. Ive been doing SW on and off for the last 5 years and Ive come to believe its a myth that you need to keep your syns up to lose weight.

how many syns do you have a day?

    Hello everybody
I would love to join this group! I
joined slimming world at 18, 3years ago, lost 1&1/2stone to reach my target weight, maintained this for 2years but have gone down hill this year since working full time and put 1stone back on.
My aunie still attends the groups so I get the magazines and rip all of my favorite recipes out to store in a slimming worl scrapbook, so no food excuses! Think my downfall is not menu planning or exercising these helped me to shift the pounds and prevent nibbles which I struggle to maintain working full time (no excuse really i know!)
Hope this group can help to motivate me!
    Thank you
Proud to be dealing with my debts

Some days I have 0 syns, some days I can have 10, but I try and keep them low more often than not. Time of the month this week so have wanted a bit of choc and spent 6 syns on a few curly wurly bars. I think keeping syns low is good for me, I probably shouldnt advise others to, the whole point of syns is so that you dont feel deprived and I have to say that I dont feel deprived if I miss them out. The other extreme is a man at group, who has 34 syns each and every day and each week he can lose anything from 2lb up to 8lb. Can you imagine what his weightloss would be like if he kept it to 15?!

    Anyhoo, I shall stop waffling!

Hi Greenman, welcome to the thread :) Sounds like planning and preparing would be good, make up healthy lunch food to take with you and keep some snacky bits on hand in case of nibbles at work. Can you build some exercise into your day? Maybe walk/cycle to work and back?
  • Hey Cleosmum are you still up for all the 7s again, i need to do somehting, i put 2.5 on this week and am quite annoyed with myself, if only i had more will power on a weekend then i would do much better.
i have to lose a lot of weight by the 26th november coz if i do then i will be having an op to remove a hideous lump from my stomache bu i have to lose as much weight as i can before he will do it.
can you help me do this by doing it together?

You bet! I need a kick, things have been hectic here, and I have found it hard to keep an eye on the 7s. Its amazing how much difference the extra fruit makes. Right, I need to make sure I plan, as I find I reach for the fruit bowl only to find brown bananas left lol.

Not sure what to suggest for the weekends, plan I guess, and maybe prepare the meals you would like and fridge or freezer them so you can grab them out regardless of what everyone else is having. Everyone had lasagne tonight and my DD ended up getting very upset at not having SW chips with me lol. Getting everyone else on side would definitely help with weekends too.

Right, draw a big line under the gain, tomorrow is a new day hun :j
  • I have really struggled today, I am sailing close to the wind.
I got up late so had breakfast but didnt feel like lunch, then felt really hungry mid afternnon.I have used up all my syns on rubbish

    I have had

Breakfast - boiled egg, 2 wholemeal nimble (HEB), teaspoon utterly butterly 1.5 syns.

Mid afternnoon - tesco cheese and onion roll 11 syns (OMG!!!)
    satsuma

Tea - bacon grilled, mushrooms, poached egg, tinned tomatoes

    snacks - jubbly 1syn

thats 13.5 syns counted for, but ive been nicking wotsits off the kids, nibbling on fish fingers that they left over and ive had 2 mini chocolate footballs.Ive come up to the bedroom now so im not near to the kitchen, as im so tempted to pig out.Its my weigh in day tomorrow.
