Lucy, sounds like you are doing good! If money is an issue then maybe see your GP and ask about the free SW pass? I am going to ask on my next visit
i asked my GP to refer me as i couldnt afford it anymore but because i was already at group i didnt qualify, is only for an initial 12 weeks and then if it is for you you start paying yourself though in some circumstances SW will let you carry on on the doctors referral.(at their discretion)
maybe after you have not been to class for a while Lucy ask your GP and hopefully you will be be accepted.DFW red and green memberDoing my best to lose weight and save money0 -
Morning guys.
I need some help (as normal )
I am really not sure what to do. Here is my problem. I am over weight, single and about to turn 26 (on Monday ) and I am desperately unhappy about this.
So I can take control and lose the weight, which will give me the confidence to 'get out there' (as my mother puts it :rotfl:) Easier said than done!! So what do I do
So far I can come up with 3 options:
Option 1 - Keep going with Slimming World, but at home and allow myself treats every now and then (i.e the weight watcher quiche I have just discovered! 15.5 syns  ) and see what happens
Option 2 - I stick to a calorie controlled diet, allowing myself about 1800 calories a day which can be increased through exercise and have a little of all the things I like and means I should lose about 1lb a week
Option 3 - Get over it and accept myself the way I am.
With ever I choose I need to do more exercise... any would be good  which will tone me up and hopefully things wont wobble so much
Re Dr's - I spoke to my Dr about weight loss and he said that the 'easiest' way was to reduce your calories and increase exercise.... easy yeah right!! Or he mentioned some tablets which stop your body absorbing fat (think free mars bars all the yumminess and none of the bad stuff!) but I don't think this would deal with the under lying issue of why I eat.
Which as a matter of fact is generally because I am bored, stressed or unhappy. And then when I eat I become more stressed and unhappy as I feel guilty (yes shoot me now :rotfl:)
So any suggestions? I feel much calmer now and having had a read of Chips Diary I think I need to have a bit of a life re think to. I need to get a handle on everything and start living my life rather than just exisiting!
Thanks for listening and I am sorry if i am being a pain!

I could have written that post myself, except for the fact that I'm not 26 on Monday. I wish....:D
You've been through quite a lot recently, Lucy, and it affects your mood which in turn affects your eating habits. I'm much the same as posted elsewhere on the forum, in fact we're quite similar really..
I had the same three options as you and I've chosen number two. That doesn't mean to say that this is the option you should choose though. "2" is right for me because I know I'd be happier if I were slimmer, my self-esteem would go up, I'd increase my chances of meeting someone and I'm doing my health some good. That rules out "3".
"1" would be my second choice however I'd be stumped within a matter of weeks with regard to visiting a SW class. They do work, I lost a shedload of weight before by having the routine and motivation of going to class but I do have other commitments in the evenings and SW would soon slip down the list of those commitments.
This means that "2" is my preferred option, nothing else. I wish I was there to give you a big :grouphug: .... hey, who's that in the middle? . You have to make the choice, no-one else, but don't beat yourself up too much as you're still special whatever you choose....:D0 -

2 is actually what I sort of think I am going to do.
But probably with less strict calorie count and more cutting back on 'bad' food. Doing more exercise which always makes me feel better even though it doesnt come naturally!
We are very similar aren't weAnd if it helps I could do with a big hug!!
And to top it all I've just realised that it's the second anniversary of my Aunts death today.....Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -

Sorry to hear that Lucy....have another one...:grouphug:
I got an exercise bike, as you know, a few weeks ago and although I haven't used it as a clothes horse just yet, its the dustiest part of the front room....:D . It's a good exercise option as you can use it in front of the telly too, might be worth looking for one, I've seen three free ones on Gumtree / Trade-It lately.:rolleyes:0 -

I'm not sure I have the room, but I have a prefectly good mountain bike in the shed... so no excuse really!
Have you ever actually used it?Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -

Yes. I had twenty minutes on it about three weeks ago....:rotfl:
It needed batteries to make the display work. I'm quite competitive so I need the display to work to ensure I know if I'm improving or not and cycling further each day. Batteries are in now so as today is l/c day, I might have twenty minutes on it tonight.
Step by step is what I say! :A0 -
Happier this week then last, got on the scales to find a 2lb weight loss.
Don't know if this will help anyone, but during the evening (my dangerous time) if I decide I want to eat I tell myself what I 'can' have, if none of these appeal, I reason I can't be hungry after all and leave it.0 -
