I couldnt do it without going to group Snaggles, the support is amazing and the image therapy is just the ticket.

I'm thinking of starting to go to a class. I wanted to see if I liked the diet and felt I could stick to it first, and I think I can, but this week I am really floundering and think a class would maybe help me to focus back on it properly.

But I'm worried that if I had a bad week, I just wouldn't go to weigh in, and then it would be a waste of money (and I haven't exactly got it to throw away).

Those of you that go to the classes, do you think it helps?

Hi Snaggles, i cant speak for others but to be honest, this forum is great and ive made some wonderful friends but i couldnt do SW without a group to go to, just the thought of having to step on those scales gives me the motivation to do well at home. i have tried to do it alone but i know i cant, everyone is different tho, you may find class isnt for you but at least you have given it a go, but then again you may be like me and find it works for you.
    the decision is yours.
good luck with whatever you decide and you know we are behind you all the way.

Thanks - I think I will give the classes a try then. I sort of feel like I'm supposed to go, because on Thursday I turned down a lift and walked up to town, and on the way I went past the local community hall, which had a huge placard thing outside saying 'Slimming World here tonight, 7.30pm'. I almost went in and joined there and then, but wanted to think about it first.

It's a lot of money, but I would happily spend a fiver on a chinese, and yet I'm stressing about spending it on something which would do me far more good.

Day 3 - I think I'm doing ok, I'm definately following the diet, but I haven't got back on the scales yet obviously (want to though) :). Can someone do some more research for me, I haven't wanted to eat these yet, but I would like to be prepared, how many syns are there in Tesco's Party Cheese Twists. Depending on high they arewill decide whether they stay in the house or go into the bin!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi there all slimmers
I was a slimming world leader for three years 15 years ago. Now I realise that things will have changed, but one of the problems I faced was that the vegetarian version was not very successful compared to the normal version of the diet. Vegetarians unite!

As a vegetarian, I find I can lose weight by eating lots of fruit and veg, reducing carbs to nil, or as close as possible and keeping fats as low as possible. This can allow me to lose a pound a week and never feel hungry.

The second thing I noticed was that despite a member's age, and I had several ladies in their 70s, was that when I looked down the charts of weight losses, there was always either a no-loss, or sometimes a gain, once a month. It looks like even when all our little homones have died and gone to heaven :A, our bodies remember the monthly routine of weight gain and loss.

One other observation - the only way to stop eating chocolate and biscuits is NEVER TO BUY THEM!!!

    Good luck to all slimmers.

Another 2lb off for me this week...whooo hoo! Am convniced that this is stress related though as have been in a right state recently and also had my 5th driving test yesterday which I failed due to a freak storm. Star week will be along soon and am convinced that I probably won't loose next week but am pleased with my loss today. Hope everyone is well xxx

I lost over 4 stone in 5 months doing the Green plan only, so there's not really any basis in fact that this doesn't work as well as the Red (Original) plan. The difference lies in the slimmer, not the plan.

I am absolutely sure that you would lose weight on this (as you would on any low fat, low carb, low calorie) diet, but it's not following Slimming World's food optimising plan, which allows unlimited free food.

However, I do agree with you on the monthly cycle - it's very odd how our bodies respond even long after the menopause.

tizzzzy - the Party Cheese Twists are 2 syns each on either plan

snaggles - the group fee may seem like a lot, but as you say, it's cheaper than a Chinese and will do you more good. Also, of course, you do get (supposedly) exclusive access to the website and a good saving on the magazine; the help and support of a Consultant who's on the other end of a phone if needed and a little 'me' time when you can go and have a giggle with a like-minded group of women (and sometimes men) who have often got some brilliant ways of getting over obstacles that you may encounter on your slimming journey.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
