Can I just ask a question about Syns? If I didn't use them up all week, can I kind of roll them over, over the course of the week or is that not the thing to do? Just wondered if it evens itself out.

After my terrible weekend I have been good today with porridge, banana, pasta salad and muller light. I am trying to redeem myself :p

Sadly you cannot "save" syns or roll them over. Flexi syn days are great for when you know you just cant stick to 10 syns. The idea is that you decide how many you will have in total beforehand, maybe out for a curry and you might need 32, you fill up on lots of speed foods, have your HE choices and then the following day you get straight back on it with your usual HE, around 10 syns and plenty of speed foods.

Would love to join but don't know the diet, can someone advise me which book(s) I need to start, been on ebay, amazon etc but the choice is confusing. I haven't got much money to spare so want to spend as little as possible, so if someone can let me know the absolute minimum I can get away with. Or do you think it would better (cheaper) to join a class and just go the once, or do they dole out the book bit by bit.
Looks very interesting, when I read the recipes etc, you seem to eat more/better than I do and I've a massive amount to lose (8 stone). This is having a bad effect on my health, diabetes etc, but I've got to the point where it hurts to stand for more than a minute or two, I'm more comfortable walking!

Hi tizzzzy It would be better for you to join a class for your first one or two weeks in order to get your books, You need a basic guidline, it would be too long to try and explain all in one go, but you will get help and advice from day to day on this forum. welcome and best of luck. bubsy70

just to say I'm having today 'off' as its my birthday. Apart from wanting to treat myself (well,if you can call potato waffles and chicken dippers for lunch a treat!) I've got cakes and stuff to make this afternoon and if I don't taste them as I go along........well, I could be poisoning my colleagues!!!!!

Also off out tonight, so I 've thought - stuff it, if I can't treat myself today, then when can I!

Thats right gal go for it :T :j :rotfl: HAPPY BIRTHDAY

xredwebx - the plans are rather wide ranging to list everything you'd need to know on here. Your best (and cheapest) option would be to find a group and join. On your first night it will cost you £9.50 and for this you will get all the books you really need, and the Consultant will tell you how to follow the plan. It will then be up to you whether you go to group again, or do it alone.

tizzzzy - the same applies. If you don't go back after the first night, be prepared for the Consultant to ring you and see if you're ok. In my opinion, the best thing to do then is tell her straight out that you won't be back - it will save you any embarrassment and will save her keep ringing and pestering you.

I have done all the diets there are over the years (even been asked to be a leader for WW) but for me, the very best by far is SW. It is the most generous diet you will ever find and you are guaranteed (by SW) to get all your money back if you don't lose weight in your first month!

jellbabies - you can save some syns up, but the danger lies in feeling deprived by having very few syns Monday to Friday in order to go on a binge over the weekend. Binging is damaging (whether it's food or drink) and not a healthy way to see your dietary intake. All that said, I have members who use 70 syns over the week rather than 10 syns a day. If it works for you and you know it's a way you could happily live, then give it a try.

donner_kebab - have you tried doing your roasted potatoes the same way as SW chips? Par-boil them for 5 mins, drain, spray with Frylight and cook as normal. They're lovely, crisp on the outside and soft in the middle and best of all - syn-free :D

    Happy Birthday Keren! :D

I did weigh in on my weigh-in day on Saturday (before the wedding) and I had lost 2lb last week :j

But I weighed this morning when I got back and I had put those 2lb back on again over the last 2 days so I don't know if I count that as a loss for last week and make it up this week or just say I stayed the same. What do you guys think

I did find shoes in the end AND I wore a dress (but apparently there's a pic of me flashing my knickers whilst doing oops upside your head :o )

It's been a great couple of days. 3 course meal on Saturday and buffet food in the evening. 2 pimms, 2 sm white wine, 2 champagne, 1 sambucca and can't even begin to count how many vodka, lime and sodas I had. :o:o:o

Obligatory hangover fry up on Sunday morning. Buffet food in the afternoon. No alcohol on Sunday as couldn't face it.

Was going to get back to eating properly today but had day off work and thought 'stuff it', I'm going to have one more day of eating crap  :o

Today I've eating special k (3 times as much as I would be allowed), 2 slices of cheese on toast (it was nimble though :A ), pkt of mini cheddars, pkt of chipsticks (teeny tiny bag), 4 jaffa cakes, about 10 crackers with cheese and cranberry jelly, and 2/3 of a small packet of rich tea biscuits.

I'm a bit p1ssed off now, tbh  (and I feel a little bit sick)

I've got some nice photos though...

Let's face it, having brown rice instead of wholemeal pasta occasionally isn't going to have a major impact on your weight loss - it's more the build up of the little sneaky shortcuts we take or the little cheats that we pretend never happened that make us think the diet isn't working, which then demotivates us and then we fall off the wagon.

    I have quite a few:

    - polos don't count, they're only mints
    - if I eat it at exactly midnight, I don't have to count it for either day
    - it was only a dash of milk in my drink, so it doesn't matter
    - if I can only have one vodka, better make it a big one!
    - Picking at Natasha's leftovers doesn't need to be counted - they're only babyfood (babyfood doesn't make HER fat )

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::o :o:o

I'm trying really hard not to fall into any of these traps this time around, and am sticking to 'the rules' like glue!

Spot on. Tweaking is a major downfall which almost everyone tries at some time. The thing is that for a while you may get away with it, which leads to the thought that it's not a bad thing. But eventually it'll catch up and lead to just the scenario you describe.

One to add to your list, by the way - chocolate raisins are part of your five-a-day :rotfl:

Oh, and Happy Birthday Keren :bdaycake:

Well done on the weight loss (of course you count it, every weight loss is a reason for celebration!). Don't worry too much about seemingly putting 2lbs on in 2 days as it's almost impossible to be fat. Most of it will be water which, once you get back on plan, will go as quickly as it came.

That teeny, weeny print was too small for my eyes at this time of the day, so I'll assume it was a list of all the healthy food you ate :D .

Just for info, if anyone doesn't know this - an average woman needs around 2000 calories a day to live and breathe (so theoretically, you can actually lose weight on this amount). In order to gain 1lb of fat, you have to consume an extra 3500 calories ON TOP OF THE 2000. I always think this puts it all into perspective.

There's no need to panic if you go off the rails for a day or two, it's when that day or two turns into a week, a month or sometimes even a year or two, that we put on loads of weight. After a 'blow-out', get back on the plan as soon as you're able. Forget yesterday, start again today.

:rotfl: In fact chocolate raisins are TWO of your 5 a day (raisins and cocoa beans). Likewise chocolate orange. :D:D:D
