Keren there is apparently a S&S recipe in the sauce cookbook, will try and post it up tomorrow then you can make it at home, much nicer and probably better syn wise too. If you had the chicken as HEB and a ton of rice, would be really filling.

Edit: Will do it now before I forget lol.

    Sweet & Sour Sauce
Ready in 20 mins, freezer friendly, serves 4.

1.5 syns per serving on green and original

4oz can pineapple chunks in juice
    5 tbsp chicken bovril stock
    2 tbsp soy sauce
    1tbsp wine vinegar
    4 tbsp orange juice
    1 tsp artificial sweetener
    1 level tbsp tomato puree
    2 tbsp diced red peppers
    2 level tsp cornflour
    salt and black pepper

    1. Drain the pineapple juice into the pan with stock, soy sauce, vinegar, orange juice, sweetener, tom puree and red pepper.

    2. Bring to boil and simmer gently for 5 mins. Mix cornflour with 2 tsp water until smooth and stir into sauce. Heat gently until thickened then remove from heat.

    3. Cut pineapple into smaller chunks, stir into the sauce and season with salt and black pepper.

cheers Cleosmum - I need to dig out my SW sauce book, it was one of those impulse moments after smelling the food and I at least stood and compared all the different sauce labels in Somerfield to find the best option of the bunch, just a shame it tasted pants.

    lol.............it was tempting!!

I've got a bowl of fruit and fibre with skimmed milk on the go, so that's an 'a' and my other 'b' choice covered. It seems odd eating when I know I went so far over the 15 syn limit, but I have to say, I'm enjoying the cereal more than the food I made earlier!

this is the one i cook and it is delicious. im not a S/S fan so i made it really for OH who is and tried some and WOW so much tastier than a takeaway or jar. go on give it a go.

ive been really bad today, once again not for what i have ate more for what i havnt. i was helping my sister move home today and as i was out early i had NO breakfast, then i had a small prtion of cous cous which i shared with sis, then NO TEA then for supper we had a chinese (and a bottle of wine synned) which was OK as we shared it but still i havnt had any HE choices at all. i have nothing on tomorrow except taking sis food shopping so will try and get back on track then.
:naughty: I hate weekends :naughty: thankyou to everyone who shared comfort food with me i will give them ago tomorrow.

Doing my best to lose weight and save money
  • Hello everyone,

I just thought id let you know with regards to rice and pasta, my sw consultant says you can have 28grams or brown rice OR pasta as a HEB. Its not in the book and i have had this many times with good weight losses so must be ok.

Also another thing, i was looking through a SW forum which i am a member on and noticed a link to a place that makes syn free sausages, low syn burgers, kebabs etc! its very pricey looking at it BUT if you can get aload of people to chip in it might not be too bad, im going to mention it this week in group to see what people think!

    http://joessausages.useconnect.co.uk/default.asp

(id also like to add that i have nothing to do with joessausages just incase anyone thinks i am trying to promote.)

oooh, cheers for that Jeanette - that takes me down to about 24 syns for yesterday!!! I thought it was odd - pasta and potato are fine, but rice isnt?!

Edit: wow, that site is great!!! Most (ie the steaks in marinades) could be re-created, but the sausages are good to have.

I'm going to go for another red day today.

    So far

    mozzarella omelette (2 x a choice)
    ham salad

For those who like cottage cheese with pineapple, I've just found out the Tesco 'light' one is free (Asda is 1 syn per 100g). I've got some with my salad now. It isn't nearly as pineapple tasting as the asda one, but it's ok.

Brown rice isnt a HEB and you really shouldnt be counting it as that Jeanette, it can only be a HEB if it has enough fibre in, which brown rice doesnt.

I have ordered from Joes sausages a few years back when it was impossible to find syn free sausages in the stores, but I find there is no need to now you can get them in places like Morrisons.

My day today, will update as go....

    2 x poached egg on 2 x Warburtons medium (400g loaf HEB)
Fruity sauce, 1 level tbsp, 1 syn

    2 handfuls of grapes

Dinner was supposed be damage limitation as I had to eat out, I was going to order steak, new pots and a large salad, I went over it 3 times with OH and then he ordered me steak, chips, peas, breaded mushrooms and onion rings arrggggggghhhhhh flippin men! I will try and work out roughly the syns, but its just one meal, back to my "success express" dinner which will be chicken 1/3 and stir fry 2/3 (will use my HEB extra virgin olive oil).

I had a curly wurly 6 syns and I have had half a HEA for milk, will have the rest later on.

Well im only repeating what the SW consultant says in my class and ive ate it many times and lost alot of weight SO it must be ok, its up to people if they decide to do it, but it works for me and alot of other people that go the same group as me.

As for morrisons sausages i dont like them lol! I might give them a go if other people in my group want to chip in, you certainly cant get morrisons garlic and chilli sausages MMmmm yum yum
