There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.0 -
good morning roomies - so good to see so many people joining in.
I will be doing my weigh-ins on monday as that is what I have been doing for the last 8 weeks.
feeling a bit brave so am gonna post how i have got on over the last 8 weeks.

2 weeks later 10/3/08 - 16s 7lb (11lb lost!)
2 weeks later 24/03/08 - 16s 5lb
2 weeks later 7/04/08 - 16s 0lb
-then last week put on 2lb
am aiming by monday to be back to 16s 0lb.
green day for me. am at work til 5 so have had shredded wheat and milk for breakkie, jacket and beans for dinner and am doing chicken fahitas for tea.
will be going for a run when I get home. I only go around the village at the moment - approx 2 miles - but it really does make a difference.
have a good day everyone and good luck for the weigh-in!!!:D0 -
Thanks Keren, you have a pm - well, you have 2 actually. I forgot to put my email address in the first one.
In my defence, I've only had a glass of water since I got up (not long ago) as I wanted to research a bit more before I ate, and I don't function particularly well on an empty stomach, lol.
According to my 7 day trial thingy, a 142ml glass of orange juice is 2.5 syns. I love my glass of orange juice every morning but don't know if I want to be 'synning' this early in the day
I'm going to have 2 Weetabix for breakfast, with semi skimmed milk mixed with water. No sugar. (Do I have to count the milk towards something)
For lunch I'm having a cheesy jacket with beans and coleslaw
(cos that's what the 7 day trial tells me to have)
Dinner is spaghetti bolognese (as above)
I can't see me managing a whole tin of fruit cocktail for dessert after my lunch so I'll probably just have the allowed snacks which are a banana, raspberries and a mullerlight. :A
Do SW have a vested interest in mullerlight or am I allowed any other yogurt?
Shopping today is going to cost me a fortune! I was only going to top up until Friday (payday) as I have meat in the freezer and was going to manage till then.
My daughter is going to join me, and we're going to carry on until we go on holiday at the end of June. She only needs to lose half a stone so I don't know how that's going to work. She'll may have to syn a lot in the last weeks, just not in front of me.

Superpup - the reason orange juice counts as Syns is because your body does not need to expend any energy to break it down. If you ate a couple of oranges instead it would be completely free - not the same I know but there you go! It would be the same if you juiced the oranges yourself (ie would count as Syns). That is why you will find the most fibrous foods ie brown rice, brown bread etc are free on green days even though they are starchy (hope I have got all that right - I'm sure someone will correct me if not).
I was going to MP Snaggles today with my starting weight but really want to 'go to class' with all you lot on a Wednesday so will wait until then. Perhaps it's just as well since I have had 73p in my account since last week and have not been able to do any food shopping (all together now......aaahhhhh). I am trying to use up all the things from the cupboards (very MSE). Unfortunately they are all the wrong thingswhich is why I have joined this superb thread.
OH gets paid on Wed so will use these next few days menu planning and getting back in the mindset. Must just finish up that glass of cava in the fridge tonight tho - MSErs can't abide waste can they.
Will have a look through my SW recipie book now and will post a free red and free green recipie in a mo.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
yes, oddly with fruit, if you eat it 'whole' it is free, but if you blitz it all into a smoothie, it counts as syns. Something to do with the thinking that you might eat 2 oranges but use 10 in a glass of juice - and also the energy reasoning that suzysu gives.
OK, I'm going to keep track here, I use the SW online diary sometimes but I'd rather keep note on 1 post each day that I just edit
2 tsp sugar (2 syns)
3 tsp marmalade (1.5 syns)
ounce porridge (b choice)
Pasta n sauce (free)
1.5 ounces mozzarella (a choice)
skimmed milk (a choice)
mullerlight
banana

Not really SW related, but I've just found out how to 'see' you all. Must learn how to upload an avatar then I'll put my pic on too. I must say, it makes the whole forum thing much more human.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

Suzysu - if you go to 'Quick Links' and then 'edit profile' there is an option on the left to change or upload an avatar.

OK fellow SWers....here's the first of this weekend's recipies FREE on RED
Thai Pork Curry
Serves 4 Preparation time: 15 mins Cooking time: 18 mins
500g/1lb 2oz lean pork steaks (could substitute chicken breasts)
Fry light for spraying
2 garlic cloves, peeled and thinly sliced
1 tbsp very finely chopped lemongrass
1 red chilli, deseeded and thinly sliced
6 spring onions, trimmed and cut into 4cm diagonal pieces
1kg/2lb 4oz mixed frozen stir-fry veg (carrots, onions, peppers, broccoli, baby corn, bean sprouts)
200ml/7fl oz chicken stock made from Bovril
1 tbsp Thai seven-spice seasoning
4 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp fish sauce (optional)
8 tbsp very low-fat natural yoghurt
To garnish:
chopped sweet basil or coriander leaves
Method:
Cut away all visible fat from the meat. Place the pork steaks between sheets of cling film and, using a wooden mallet or rolling pin, beat until about 5mm/quarter of an inch thick (very theraputic this meal). Cut the pork/chicken into very thin strips.
Spray a large non-stick wok or frying pan with Fry Light. Place over a high heat and add the meat strips. Stir-fry for 7-8 mins or until the meat is sealed, cooked through and lightly browned. Add the garlic, lemongrass, chilli, spring onions and stir-fry over a high heat for 1-2 mins.
Stir in the frozen veg and stir-fry on high for 2-3 mins. Add the stock, Thai spice seasoning, soy sauce and fish sauce (if using) and stir and cook for 2-3 mins or until the veg are just tender.
Remove from the heat and stir in the yoghurt, sprinkle over the fresh herbs and serve immediately.
My note: this does not come with rice, so if you wanted I suggest you choose brown rice. It takes a bit of getting used to and you would need to check the Syn value.
Green recipie following once my hands have stopped crampingYOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
