Just to say that I cancelled my Nationwide policy within the 14 day period and still got the "double refund" cheque OK, and the premium was refunded as expected to my credit card.

Result !

I personally think it is a bit unethical. Really you shoudl be grateful that you already got a huge cashback from them. I know you are doing nohting illegal but... Maybe I am just a soft touch!

finally got my cheque for £450 too. Had to chase them a few times but they finally came up with the right result for me!

Letter arrived today from Nationwide saying that a cheque will be in the post in 28 days. I claimed a total of £275.

Can I just ask you about the wording of your letter? Did your letter say "...thank you for purchasing Nationwide car insurance and contacting us to claim your refund for DOUBLE the difference..", or did the wording just say "the difference"?
The reason i ask is that I actually purchased their insurance the day after you, having got confirmation from them over the phone that I would still be able to qualify for DOUBLE the difference, not just THE difference, as long as I purchased it that day (31 Oct). Got my letter same day as you to say accepted, but mine just says "the difference". Does yours specify 'double'?

My letter also says "the difference". If that's not what we get, they'll be getting a cruise missile from me...... They'll know it's coming but there's nothing they can do to stop it!

I did specify in my letter that we were claiming double and I even specified the amount. Their standard reply doesn't counter this.....

Don't worry about it. My letter just said "the difference" but I got a nice cheque for double (£879).

I thought I had missed out on this double discount offer but try as I may I just can not find any other insurance Co that beats the Nationwide quote! For my Daewoo Lanos fully comp with full protected NCD and legal cover they have quoted £197.40. I can't remember the last time my insurance was under £200 for the same cover.
