Just a quick note to say that i signed up for the Nationwide car insurance and then proceeded to find a cheaper quote. Once i'd sent all the paperwrok off within the 28 day period i was told that i would qualify for their price promise, and was happy to see a cheque for £373. That means my insurance only cost me £98 this year.
Get in there quickly I'd say.0 -

They also have accident recovery thing where they will drive you about. I can see them getting out of moneyback claims due to details such as these.
QUOTE]
In the Terms and Conditions, it gives a complete list of the criteria used for comparison. There are only 8 things. These 8 things are:
* date must be within 28 days AFTER NW policy start
* details for car, named drivers, address and estimated annual mileage must be same
* level of cover (e.g comprehensive) must be the same
* No. of yrs no claims discount must match
* Policy excess must be about the same (i.e. within £25) - remember this will include excesses for windscreen, accidental damage and theft etc.
* courtesy car must be provided for duration of repairs
* method of purchase must be the same (telephone or internet)
* must have foreign use for up to 90 days
"Subject to satisfying the required criteria, you will receive your cheque for double the difference in annual premiums within 28 days of sending us a claim."
And so I think that, as long as all these criteria are matched, there is no reason why the claim should not be successful. :T0 -
green_bean wrote:-- Phoned them again and this time they say yes, I could buy today with a policy start date in November and still make a claim within 28 days of the date of purchase --
I have also just called them to query this as my insurance expires 17 Nov. The confirmed it is ok to take out the policy now online for it to start 17 Nov and then submit a claim as the claim's deadline is 28 Nov. I have now taken the plunge (gulp!). NW policy £371.70 so will have to wait until until my policy actually starts before I send claim off and quote. But so far cheapest quote is £266 with Bell.
Good luck to all the other November starters! Let's hope they keep to their word.....Quidco ~ £3,718 | Greasypalm ~ £354 | Freefivers ~ £45 | Pigsback ~ £260 shopping vouchers + 15 CDs
Total cashback / freebies / money-saving: 2006 ~ £3,961 | 2007 ~ 3,610 | 2008 ~ £4,159 | 2009 ~ £1,449

Sorry for replying so late but the it is not in my interest to have my cheapest quote from Nationwide. I paid approx. 450 pounds. Fair enough if that was the cheapest price but I would have rather it had been with some other insurer because by paying, for example, 500 pounds to Nationwide I would have got double the difference back and effectively paid 400 pounds! (500 less 2 * 50 pounds)0 -

I used Admiral, insuring myself and the wife. Admiral's quote was £605(ish) and the NW policy I bought was for £1420!
They will be sending me a cheque for approximately £1630, so that's one years car insurance for a grand total of...
-£210
Got the cheque this morning! As I made a change over the telephone, I was charged a £15.75 'admin fee' - they doubled refunded this as well!!
The cheque is for £1661 and the total cost is now -£225.750 -
I received my cheque yesterday morning. I too found the cheapest to be Admiral. £280 at admiral, £385 at NW.
£210 received, so thanks to MoneySavingExpert I have shaved over £100 of my £280 policy!

I applied today to NW online with one day of the offer left, and the start date is 5th November. Norwich Union is currently over £100 cheaper, so lets hope it all works ok. I will let you know!
cheers

I got my cheque for £1700 at the weekend so am getting paid 400 odd to insure my car this year! Thanks to all those that gave me advice.
I didn't get round to calling NW until about three weeks after I sent in claim. I got the letter saying I was successful a couple of days later and a cheque a week later.
Good luck allNice to save.0 -
