I think this thread will be winding down (unless people have problems with their claims).
Moolah - you're the current 'highest' scorer being paid £400!
Anyone top that?0 -
A quick update. I received a cheque for £430 from nationwide using Privilege as the cheapest quote. It means that my car insurance has cost me £330 this year which is the lowest I have ever paid!
I wonder waht what would happen if I cancelled the insurance now, would they 'reclaim' the cheque? I suppose they would factor it in when determining my refund. Does anyone have any experience of this?
I might need to cancel since NW's quote for my next car is unlikely to be as competitive as others - which means that my smugness will prove to be shortlived......
Thanks Martin and everyone else for their posts which aided me in my claim.0 -
On the NW website it still says double the difference, but in the small print in the PDF file on there it says on for insurance purchased upto 31 October.
I have already received my £210 cheque, but would like to spread the word around to friends.
Does anyone know if they will be extending this offer (or any other companies’ likely to do a similar one)?0 -
I would go with the small print, looks like the offer is over (for the moment at least!)0

Update: I called Nationwide today to check on my claim and they have confirmed that they are sending me a cheque for £2768.50 ...
I have FREE car insurace for the year (worth £2285.85 at Nationwide), plus £482.65 cash!
Huge thanks to Martin and to all who have given advice on this thread.

I'll be cancelling NW insurance soon (they will just charge me one month's payment to do this) and switch back to my cheap policy with Bell Direct! The cheapest quote I had - which I couldn't use as comparison for my NW claim - was actually £840. The NW cheque will pay for this, and I'll have over £1500 left over! :rotfl:0 -

Yes, I got the number from Simon who posted earlier. It is:
Name: Rachael Laidier
Position: Manager of general insurance Marketing (Nationwide)
Working hours: 9am-5pm
Phone Number: 01793 657173
She deals with the claims personally. I spoke to her twice and she was very helpful.0 -
Glad the number worked... :-)
I wasn't sure people were using it as only 3 people said thankyou! ;-)

Well, my checque for £1800 is on the way, and now I too am thinking about cancelling and getting insurance elsewhere. Surely there's got to be a catch?!0

I phoned today and a cheque for £200 is on its way to me. This year my insurance only cost £170 net!!! The very best ever. Thanks to MSE.0
