booogle wrote:I took out nationwide insurance and have submitted a claim using a bell direct quote (part of admiral). The customer service at Nationwide told me the bell euro cover was "close enough" and the audio cover wasn't an issue as "£750 cover was good enough". I Will post the outcome here..
Booogle, what number did you call to speak to someone that knew about this offer at nationwide? Most people are saying that when they phone up none of the customer service people have heard of this???
I think I am going to take out the policy with nationwide (£572) and claim against a admiral policy (£424) (both churchill insurance) the only difference I can see is the euro cover is 90 days total but with a max of 30days (NW is 90max) and the stereo cover is £750 not £1000 but as booogle said above cust serv say this is 'close enough'... I have a form from 'pollybarn's' link and will post it straight after getting the NW policy and then chase NW after 7 days and then if I have not heard a yes or no within 14 dyas I will cancel and take out the admiral policy (who are the cheapest of all my quotes)...
Lets hope I get my £296 and my car insurance is just £276 for the year... :-)

I think this deal has ended now, it is no longer advertised on the nationwide website. However, it is still coming up on a sponsored Google link?0

????
Still there for me???
I go to www.nationwide.co.uk
then click insurance and then click more info on the left by 'Car' and it takes you to a page that says:
"buy from us and if you find a better quote, we'll refund double the difference*
up to 65% no claim discount (up to 70% if over 50 years of age)
the option to protect your no claim discount
courtesy car, if yours needs to be repaired by an approved repairer, AT NO EXTRA CHARGE
cover for driving in Europe for up to 90 days AT NO EXTRA CHARGE "
It's still available....

Simon, I think I used the general customer service line and pressed the option for insurance where I was on hold for a long time and eventually got through to somebody who seemed clued up on the offer0

I had a quote for £197 from Nationwide and £130 from Norwich Union and Saga, I had an in depth talk to the man from Nationwide and he said they would not payout on the Saga quote as they do not provide all the extra's and Norwich Union and as I did not want or request Euro travel on the Norwich Union that would be out and I would be stuck with a car policy for £197 that I could have got for £130!
I don't fink so!
Iwill stick to what I know.

Des,
Did you try a quote from bell direct, churchill, admirla, lloyds, etc...
These are more in line with nationwides policy...

My car insurance was up for renewal and I had already found a good quote from Bell. Then I saw the Nationwide Price Promise so thought I would give it a go. (Any other bank I wouldn't have bothered because I thought they would have their little get out clauses but I have remortgaged recently to Nationwide and they have been fab).
Anyway I took out Nationwide car insurance for £361. The Bell quote was for £246. I noticed in the Nationwides T&Cs that the quote has to be dated after I have taken out the Nationwide policy so I called Bell and asked for another quote to be sent out.
I got a Price Promise Claim form in my local branch (this is the best option as when I phoned the number in the T&Cs, nobody seemed to know anything about it!). I honestly thought it wouldn't be accepted as I had done the quote online and knew the details were exactly the same, but the quote I was sent only gave some of the details ie. nothing about voluntary excess or legal assistance which I had requested.
Anyway I sent it off last week and got a letter from Nationwide today to say it had been accepted and that I would receive a cheques for double the difference within 28 days!!!
So that means I should get a cheque for £230!! Which means my car insurance for the year would have cost me £131!!!:heart2: Cookiepops :heart2:0 -
Excellent news lisajh29,
I took out a nationwide policy on Friday and then sent off a bell direct quote and the form a few hours after so hopefully they should let me know this week if it's accepted. I should get £280 back... :-)
I'll post how I get on but it looks like bell direct works...

Hey Lisa, that's great.
can you post the details of the excesses on the two policies please? Bell are quoting me a £150 excess on fire or theft claim and £250 excess on accidental damage. The extra £100 is a mandatory excess because of the car type. Is that what you had?
My premium is 1300 (NW) vs 430 (Bell) so I'm keen to do this right.Nice to save.0
