Just noted on Bespokes that where it says right to canvas off the premises
it states "NO"

Does that mean that we all went to GIB to take out our loans/PPI.

I don't know what this means but on the click one it says "YES".

Yes i did (Go on the CCA search down the right hand side )and then it bring up lots of info. On the bespoke one it also states an address for correspondence and its Freedoms addy.

No di, what i meant about the canvassing thing is that it looks like Bespokes licence was to only do business inside the premises according to this.

Yes I must agree with you, just been reading it though again and I would definately do this.
With not knowing what your signing for........that is pathetic !!!

Hi

We had to sign to accept that we accepted the rebate as set out in the FOS letter we have done that with Barclaycard and MBNA. Although we are querying with FOS the Barclays refund.

This seems to be common practice. Its just how the banks can twist the figures to suit their needs. If you are not happy with the rebate go back to the FOS, request a breakdown of the figures although usually the banks just say they have followed the instructions in the FOS Letter:eek:

Thats what the poster previous page was wanting to know about. Its daft to sign for something when you don't know what you are signing for.

I assume it something like your PPI back, Interest etc and then you sign and then you check the refund after... Seems so stupid when a lot of people go back to the fos for this to be checked. WHy not have the figures there before and then it takes the work away from the FOS and the tooing and froing and just one signature.

Canvassing off premises means

Canvassing involves calling on consumers uninvited to offer credit or hire agreements. Canvassing off trade premises includes calling on people at home without invitation and stopping people in the street or another public place. It does not include contact on business premises, whether these are yours, another person’s or the consumer’s. Temporary premises, such as a stand at a trade exhibition, also count as trade premises.
You can only canvass off trade premises if you have been granted a licence which authorises you to do so.
The Act prohibits the canvassing of debtor-creditor agreements off trade premises. Broadly, these are cash loans and other credit agreements not linked to the purchase of goods or services. Any breach of the prohibition is a criminal offence.
There is no equivalent ban on canvassing agreements linked to the purchase of goods or services (debtor-creditor-supplier agreements) or consumer hire agreements.
It is also a criminal offence to canvass off trade premises the services of a credit broker, debt adjuster, debt counsellor, or provider of credit information services. For example, if you are a broker you must not visit people uninvited to try to persuade them to agree for you to
agree for you to arrange home improvement or debt consolidation loans.

Perhaps Bespoke were OK then.

Quite agree that is how these firms get away with inadequate rebates. I think people think that the FOS checks them. I know I am on my apple box again but it makes me cross it seems a stupid way of doing things:mad:

What it does state on the Bespoke consumer credit licence thing is that correspondence is addressed

Accept Notices/Documents Freedom House, Church Street, WILMSLOW, Cheshire, SK9 1AS

Correspondence Freedom House, Church Street, WILMSLOW, Cheshire, SK9 1AS

So why did we have to write to GIB and deal with them there.

Simone if you drop by then according to their consumer credit licence correspondence should be dealt with at the address above.
