  • Hi,

I have been paying overdraft protection with a Barclays bank current account for years -I certainly never asked for it - I seem to remember being told it was part of the overdraft charges. Sorry for being dippy - but is this the same as the PPI Martin's talking about? Can i claim this back under the PPI info or is it just credit cards/loans etc? Has anyone had any success in claiming this back?

    Thanks
    Katy

    Hi Katy.

Just to make sure on this hun, have you any documents/paperwork to confirm this by any chance?
If you believe you have been mis sold in any finance you can try to reclaim this by sending a complaint letter to refund you what you have paid in this plus interest.

Maybe one of the others could advise on this one here but maybe you pay for a certain special account where you get benefits such as mobile cover, breakdown cover and so on, this would be mainly on cards such as classic gold/silver and premier accounts.

I would contact your bank just to make sure you know what this is for first hun.;)

For my account for instance I pay approx £25 a month for this because of the benefits involved.;)

If this is the case with yours and you do not need it you can ask them to change this for a cheaper account.

If your bank is local to you it may be worth just popping in.

Just to add a bit about the FOS I sent my charges to fos for 2 store cards as they only wanted to give partial refund (ge capital bank/lending money or who ever!) and court was a bit daunting.
Got a reply back in three weeks saying neither were covered before 2007.

So I suppose what the complaint is about that determines the speed of the reply.
Have one now with the FLA ( not holding out much hope here!)

    And one the court route.

    Now that is a disappointment........ .
    And you say 2007 ?

May I ask hun if any of your final response letters before these went into the FOS mentioned anything about the FOS at all?

According to the FSA register they were covered as from 2001 ??

Has there been a mistake here made by the FOS perhaps, I know this has happened??

What is the reg number for this company hun, this should be on your documents, cheers.
