Hi there, i have had a PPI claim with the Bank of Scotland for what seems like FOREVER!!!

I recieved a letter on 25th July saying that they are 'not at fault etc, etc, but as a gesture of goodwill they will pay out with interest'

The letter said that a further letter would follow with the details.

I called the number on the letter to ask about when the details would follow and the guy told me I would have a settlement within 2 weeks.

It is now almost 6 weeks since the letter and still no response.

I have had a call from the Redress team who calculate how much they owe me, and they guy told me that the loan i had was on their 'old system' and as yet they do not have a calculator in place to work how how much is owed to me.

How long do i give them to give me an answer?

I am really frustrated, as surley i am due what i paid plus the interest?

    Please help.
all the banks currently have backlogs in the recalculation of repayments and when you do get them they are sometimes wrong - so you'll need to check the amounts being repaid - HBOS are taking within 6-8 weeks to make a payment - what I tend to do when a payment is late is call the case officer twice a day, every day until payment is made - they get so sick of it they get your calculation bumped up the line

Does this mean that they can be working on whether you actually have a claim whilst waiting for Picture to be declared in default or they are just accepting claims and will look into them once the default is declared (if that makes sense!)
I would imagine if they decide you have a claim seeing as it is them who have to make the payment this would be quicker than waiting for a company to payout or is this wishful thinking!!
yes they should be starting their investigations, they know Picture will be declared in default (the loans part has already been sold onto another company) it's really just that final formality

Sorry this is slightly off topic but I have been told by a home shopping catalogue that they are only required to provide a copy of the standard agreement and it is not necessary to provide a signature box, they refered me to Regulation3 Consumer credit (cancellation Notices and copies of Documents)
    Regulations 983 (SI.N0 1557)

I am only trying to find out if I agreed to account cover as I don't believe I did and I want to see how it was added.
Probably not the right thread but I like you lot ! x

Usually with catalogues they just put it on in the hope that you will cancel if you don't want it and many people don't even know they have it. Also you rarely sign any agreements with them at all. I would ask them to prove you asked for it and carry on with your claim.
  • Thanks very much!

Tiggrae- thanks- have you ever known a company pay out without going down the Ct route for claims of this age? In other words- is there any point me continuing this claim? Perversely, one of my loans which I sensibly did not take ppi out on was mentioned by LTSB in error- taken out in Feb 00 and they said they would look at it if I could prove I had paid ppi- despite it being over 6 years old..............

If there is no point, whilst I am seething, does everyone think I am onto a loser? I would normally fight to the death but my baby is due in three weeks and I have nappies to think of.....................!

Thanks everyone. Don't you just hate being ripped off? OR being stupid.

Firstly you have not been stupid or any of us for putting our trust into these people - we thought that we could.

Just be careful fighting for now as you will end up in hossie with your BP rising. I would wait for Tiggraes advice here as she knows the courts better than anyone here. I have seen people win from 2000 odd but like i say Tiggrae is better to reply.

Hope everything goes well with you and the baby. :happyhear

    Dear All

I was wondering if anybody reclaiming PPI with First Plus is doing so because they were not told that they would continue to pay interest on the PPI even after it had expired after 5 years.

I have a 10 year loan and have listened to the tape recording with the First Plus Salesman. This vital piece of information was not at any stage given to us.

Just wondering if First Plus have a pattern of misselling and if the above omission of information was typical ?

As always very thankful for any advice.

Firstplus never tell you that. They usually flatter the sale with "you get it back after 5 years" from what they are saying on here but forget to mention how much it actually costs you in the long run.

Go for them, they have bad terms on the PPI and we all knew very little about these policies at the time of having them. Its usually not offered as an option either.
