Compensation for Distress from the Ombudsman

Delays, rudeness and poor claims handling are grounds for ordering financial services firms to compensate customers, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has said. Payments can be ordered in addition to other remedies.
Whenever a customer complaint is upheld by the FOS, it will consider whether to make an additional award for distress and inconvenience caused by the firm – even if the consumer has not specifically asked it to do so.

In exceptional cases, it may award compensation even if the complaint is not upheld but the firm handled the complaint particularly badly.

    Thanks for adding this hun
We were awarded an extra £250 for all the stress this had caused with the delays etc, we did try to more but that was it!
It was actually paid out by Nemo themselves.

Hi, I've posted a couple of times on here so wanted to let you all know that I got a letter from FOS today regarding my complaint against London Scottish plc for a mis-sold loan.

FOS have upheld my complaint and are ordering L&S to re-arrange the loan to put me back in a positionhad PPI not been taken out, and to repay all PPI plus 8%interest along with a note to show how it has calculated the amount concerned. I've to sign a form and send back to FOS to agree.:j

My loan was taken out Sept 2003 for £5000 and the PPI amount was a further £895 on top. PPI only covered for 5 years (my claim for mis-selling) and loan was for 7 years. I cancelled PPI in March 2008 after reading this forum and it was only then I realised the 5 year con after receiving £1.34 rebate!!!

Cany anybody work out what the actual PPI payments were per month so I can have a check on the calculator what I might expect to receive back?

Forgot to add that my payments were £110.81 permonth (approx)

Many thanks for all of the excellent advice you have all offered on this site - you are all stars and I hope you receive the good news due to you all very soon!.

    Thanks
    Amanda

Di i have just clicked your link and it states on microsoft that it is a suspicious website, it may be a phishing website impersonating a trustworthy website in order to get your details. I am going to send off a report on it.

A website that is flagged as suspicious has some of the characteristics typical of phishing websites, and it is neither on the list of legitimate websites that is stored on your computer nor on the online list of reported phishing websites. The website might actually be legitimate, but you should not submit any personal or financial information to it unless you are certain that the site is trustworthy.
