I'm going to sort out all my paperwork this weekend and then I'll get back to you. I am positive that I received very little information relating to the ppi. Also aware that at the time of being sold this ppi I explained that my work was sporadic but did quote them how much I earned upon my commissioned work.
I was on annual leave yesterday when I decided to pursue this with Money saving expert but I will be back over the weekend. Thanks for your assistance.0 -

Marshallka I think you may have hit the nail on the head here - just looking at the letters from Norton in the small print it says that Norton Finance is an appointed representative of Norton Insureance Services
I'll get in touch with the FOS again and see if this makes any difference...fingers crossed
Norton Finance are appointed Rep of Norton Insurance - as you spotted. They have been regulated for non investment insurance since Jan 05 (since FSA regulated this sector).
FOS confusing the issue re the April 07 thing - this was the date FOS took jursidiction over CCA (Consumer Credit) complaints. FOS have kinda missed the point and should investigate this under compulsory jurisidiction as PPI sale by Norton. With the PPI complaint volumes they are facing probably no surprise they're messing up a few .... keep at it.0 -
Spoll - def need to go back to FOS. They are confusing themselves!!!

Thanks for adding this Tron_ess;) .
I'm sure Spoll will be here soon enough to read this, cheers hunni.
And I agree these firms always like to make a note of this April 2007 issue where it was really Jan 2005 and before. (basically a fob off to the FOS and the consumers).
If they were covered by these prior to April 2007 then there is no reason why the FOS cannot look at the complaint, rules are rules.:D
I would definately argue this issue.
Thx again.

You could email them as well but you have to wait for them to send out a final response to you within 8 weeks of making the complaint and then you can take this complaint to the FOS if they say no. I would just wait a while but its entirely up to you. I really hope you win given the headache they have given you.
Maybe another letter would not hurt, depends how long ago you sent the first or just send them an email.
Hi Marshallka. I only sent the first one on Monday. I wasn't sure who I would email it to if I did send them one. As they have an ordinary email address and a complaints one too.
I've been wondering too, if I got my money back, what will happen to the loan I've got outstanding? Would I just pay it back at a lesser monthly amount coz there wouldnt be any insurance on it? I'm not sure what happens when ppl win their case.
I bet you're sick of seeing my name today!! LOL
Cheers.;)0 -

Lets say that you won this claim, if you won through the Ombudsman then the Ombudsman aims to put people back into the position they would be in if they had not had the PPI at all and also add 8% interest too. If you still have a loan most of the time your loan is rescheduled at this point and the ppi is paid back as a cheque. Some companies have been known to offer the refund and then take the money back and repay off some of the loan with it. Either way you are put back into the position as if you never had the PPI. If the PPI is from a settled loan then they generally pay you a cheque.0 -

Everyone is only happy to help you hunni, so fire away with all.;)
Now if your loan is still active, the insurance will obviously be deducted from this and refunded to you, plus interest and 8% interest a court would award.
I assume they would have to reschedule your repayments hun, but I'm sure others that have been in this actual position with the loan still active will tell you more.;)

I told them that I could have paid a £10 admin fee to the loan company and got it canceled myself. They have recovered what I have paid in the past to the loan company. I don't see why I should be charged for something that I have not even paid for.
Can someone help me please?
THANK YOU.
Ammer.
really worth putting some background to this as not clear.
Its normal for these claims companies to charge 25% of what they reclaim - but not clear from what you've said if that is what you mean.
As others have noted - these companies are almost as bad really - as all they are doing is everything you can legitametely do for yourself. You're basically paying for their time and more importantly persistence. Provided you can invest a little time yourself, and are persistent you'll achieve the same outcome without giving up 25%!0 -
