Afternoon all,
I posted a couple of weeks back telling you how we'd been mis-sold our ppi on our loan, made to open an advantage gold account (COSTING £12 A MONTH) and was told had to take out the ppi to get the credit we required. well....... 2 weeks later recieved a letter from good old natwest appologising and saying how bad that we feel this way and our complaint is being taken very seriously and we have to fill in a complaint form (inc details of our loan and employment status etc...) is this natwest normal proceedure? (or any other company)
was supprised at there speed.
thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Di, took your advice and contacted Future mortgages via phone and a very nice man told me to email my complaint to them which I have done,
still only giving them 8 weeks from my first letter and sent proof of postage
of first letter. Hope this works! Thanks again. xDS1 12/10/04

Thank you, thants what I thought. the form has general questions about the loan, where we took it out etc... and apparently its being delt with a PPI customer concers team, which are fully investigating this matter. but the latter from RBS and not natwest (i know they are realated)
just a little confused.:male: 2 Beautiful Boys :male::beer: Not uptomyeyes anymore thanx MSE & friends for all your help:beer:0 -

We really need Tiggrae to advise here but she always tells people to hold them equal if the company that sells it is having none.
I would have a read of the link above and do another letter to FIrstplus
Also another idea here is to write back to Norton Finance and tell them that you are going to make a complaint to the OFT and FSA about their taking part in activities that they should have been regulated to do so. I would also say you are going to write to the OFT about their fitness to hold a consumer credit licence too. You could take them to the courts for misrepresentation in that they sold you a PPI premium on the understanding that you thought they were regulated by the FSA at the time of the sale and they were not. I would also state this in your letters to them and give them 14 days for a full and final settlement.
Just looking at the FAS register and it says that Norton are 'Appointed Representative' and my understanding of this is that they are an agent of an authorised firm. Could I hold the authorised firm responsible and if so how do I find out who this is. Thinking about this, would the authorised firm be FirstPlus? I can't see how Norton would be so stupid as to be acting illegally.
So I think my choices are:
- Accept the rubbish offer from Norton
- Write back to Norton and request a revised offer
- Write to FirstPlus and say I hold them equally responsible for the PPI
- Write to FirstPlus and claim an unfair settlement
- Go down the legal route (which I'd rather not do)0 -
Thanks Marshallka for post 5815 which provided me with the link I needed for
Future Mortgages current details.Fingers crossed.xDS1 12/10/04

You have it in writing that Norton FInance sold this ppi to you in 2006 and all sales of insurance should have been regulated from 14th January, 2005 so i think that Norton Finance have been very stupid here and really and truely you need to tell them this.
They took part in a regulated activity and were not regulated to do so. Plain and simple as that.
Just an after thought, it was Norton Finance UK LTD that you made your complaint against to the FOS???
If you look on the FSA Register then there is also under principles Norton Insurance Services Limited. What exact name did you give to the FOS...perhaps this is the actual one as this is who norton are appointed representative of and are authorised by the FSA:j :j
But if you click on regulators it does not even bring up the FSA which it states did regulate them from 2004. This is soooo blummin confusing. Unless you should have made the complaint against Norton Insurance Services Limited.0 -

Yes it's all becomming very confusing and depressing! I gave the FOS the name 'Norton Finance' and the correct address details. If Norton knew they weren't and knew/know they wouldn't be investigated I don't see why they made an offer to us in the first plus. Surely they did this in the ho ethat we didn't go to the FOS??0 -
Hi,
we took out a loan in september 2006 for £30,000 with Paragon. We have then re-paid £300+ per month (as the atractive early deal soon went up and up!) and had to settle the debt to re-mortgage last month. The settlement figure was £43,000+!!!
Where do I start to reclaim.....What are the basis for a legal claim etc...
These things are terrible, you think you're doing the right thing by getting insured and you just get screwed to the wall. It's bloody outrageous!0 -
