Hi again Spoll
Regarding my above post where I added the link of Norton Finance you can see they were regulated at from so and so month of 2004, the link you added about from the "consumeractiongroup", they probably just missed out of them being registered under the FOS.
I would check out their company reg number on your paperwork/documents, add it here we can make sure it is that of the same company, some companies tend to stop trading and start again under a new company number, don't think these were one of those though.;)
Di.

Di thanks for your help. Just looked at the paperwork and the reg number is 2209551 and registered office is 145 wellgate, rotherham, s60 2nn (what it says at bottom of letter from them).
The address details that the correpspondance is from matches that on the FSA regsiter so it definetly looks like they were regulated at the time of the loan so I really don't know what the FOS is going on about.
I will ring them 2mrw on behalf of my Dad and see if I can get to the bottom of why they say they cannot deal with the complaint.
Thanks again all0 -

Did Firstplus tell you that Norton actually sold it to you. Also was this policy a FIrstplus policy, one of the 5 year ones and with a cashback thing attached... I wonder if FIrstplus actually sold you this and Norton only advised and Firstplus are trying to wriggle out of it. Do you remember any of it...0 -
Could anyone please tell me if copies of any paperwork that backs up a case for reclaiming PPI's is necesary as I dont seem to have any? Thanks0

I would think that it would be good to have the paperwork with the PPI on it, i have a loan and it clearly states how much the PPI is. Could you ask the company for copies of the original paperwork, i'll expect that you may have to pay for it!!!! I'm sure there will be others here who will be able to help youDEBT free:j0 -

You can request all the details etc in a subject access request if they are needed. I would not bother if the loan was taken after the 14th January, 2005 as most complaints are upheld from that date.0 -

What i cannot understand is the fact that the FOS have said they were not???? This is very confusing.

I was also thinking maybe firstplus actually sold it, but I've gone through the letters again and the response to our initial letter to firstplus was that the loan and PPI were sold to us by Norton Finance. Through various repsonses from Norton Finance they have acknowledged they sold my Dad the policy, culminating in an offer which we deemed way to low hence going to the FOS.
I must admit that even being possesion of the various letters and documentation it's very unclear about what role FirstPlus actually had!0 -
