Sorry, I have tried staying off this thread but I would maybe re-inforce the following as some basic rules.
Always send correspondence "signed for" so you can track it. "Signed for does not guarantee next day delivery and cost less than a £1 on top of normal postage prices so is a value for money way of ensuring companies have received your correspondence and provides proof of postage.
When dealing with any complaint or issue. Keep a diary/file of what was sent and when it was sent so you can refer to this easily.
By following these 2 simple steps, you will find that you are more organised and mentally stronger to deal with issues rather than worrying over whether they have even received your request. Ok, it may cost you a few quid more but at least you can strengthen your case and speak with confidence that its their fault if they cannot find your letter.
Apologies if this is teaching you to suck eggs but I think its worth saying as a reminder to reduce timescales and stress. A lot of companies I have worked for have their post rooms deliver the signed for and spec dels separately because they want to ensure the post room cannot be blamed when internal politics take over when it all goes wrong for them.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. [FONT=Tahoma, Arial]We have recently received correspondence from the Financial Ombudsman Service
regarding their review of your complaint and your acceptance of their
adjudication.
Their decision includes a recommendation that a full refund of the payment
protection insurance premium plus any interest be refunded to you.
In order to comply with this recommendation, please find enclosed an amount of
£15,388.29 in respect of a full refund of the insurance premium and interest
paid on the premium through the term of your loan. This amount is being
refunded to you in order to put you in the financial position you would be if
the insurance had not been taken, as laid out in the Financial Ombudsman's
recommendation.
When you settled your loan account a rebate of £4,121.10 was included in the
settlement figure. This additional amount represents an additional refund of
£13,021.90 to give a full refund of £17,143.00, and a refund of interest
amounting to £1,774.54. This also includes an amount of £591.85 in respect of
the 8% interest on £14,796.44 from the date your loan was settled to present.
To clarify the details of the redress as set out in Mr Meredith's letter:
a) Settlement figure paid including PPI and rebate £83,759.78
of £4,121.10
Total premiums paid including cost of PPI £8,390.90
Total = £92,150.68
b)Settlement figure assuming no PPI taken £70,614.02
Total premiums paid assuming no PPI taken £6,740.22
Total = £77,354.24
c)Difference between a and b = £14,796.44
8% interest on £14,796.44 = £591.85

Update on the wifes debenhams card.
Latest letter fro GE states that they can't find all the stuff. Have no confirmation of the alleged telephone call but they did pass it to their investigation team. Who surprisingly have said everything is above board and the wife gets nowt.
So much for the nice guy approach these people aren't bothered.
Could anyone tell me what they think a judge would think given the following evidence.
The wife -
CCA with no PPI ticked
Detailed notes provided by GE money that identify all major communications on account. Nothing about phone calls to customer offering PPI.

Just had a follow up letter from the FOS and they have said that the complaint against Firstplus re settlement etc is not within their jurisdiction after first telling me it was. I feel so annoyed about this as i was told at the time I asked about this that it was. They say they cannot do anything about it as Firstplus Financial Group PLC did not come in until January, 2005. Even the thing about the wages being a different address than we gave them does not come in apprarently. I was warned by the FOS that FIRSTPLUS could argue that this nothing to do with them. I bet that is what they have done.
They have also stated they cannot do anything about the PPI also as that is outside their jurisdiction and also they have no idea who actually sold this to me. Firstplus, Freedom and Bespoke are not within their jurisdiction and Karacus Limited is not even on their data base at all.
I feel like all these helpful aids for the consumers are taking the pi** here and nothing matters what anyone does to you. Just have to pursue the court case with Freedom but beginning to think thats a waste of time.(thats just because of today though). Perhaps judges think that its ok to mislead and con people and fake wage address's etc. I really feel let down by this bl**dy country. It stinks and i may well head for Gibraltar to join the other side or the law.
Bespoke is the one i go for i think as everyone else say "nothing to do with me". Freedom said yesterday that they could not see that THEY had done anything wrong. I think all three have, mislead, lied and consipred. I will certainly consider the media now to find out about this Bespoke and what sort of fiddles they ARE up to.
RANT OVER (well nearly) and how i feel now "p*ss to the law". Everyone else does. You want to bring up your kids to respect the law but all i see is money and power gives you laws of your own.0 -
