  • You know it's so nice to come on here and get so much help and support from others in the same or similar situations. It's like another plus on top of the successes that we get or hope to get.

But I really should be more careful as yesterday I went to the doctors to be told that my bp was so high that I have to go for a ECG and take medication immediately for my own sake. Having to go back tomorrow.........

Thanks again for all your help. I nearly backed out before I started it in case I got a negative reply and had to go through all the other letters etc.

Glad you fought for what was yours anyway. You got there in the end. Well done Loulou:beer:

Be very careful here angelwillow. Its not worth it when you are medicated in that way then you really cannot take risks. I ended up in hospital by wheelchair 4 times and I was not allowed to walk anywhere. I had malignant hypertension and the meds to get it back down were awful. I know this is not doing me much good now but I have to fight back. Things can wait for a while until you are more stable. You could cause a stroke or heart attack if you are not careful. We will all fight for ya until you are strong enough again.:D

I have been on the Mortgage board and got slated for being in this position in the first place and not being more careful with the money. I know they have a point but I don't see myself as greedy. In my view the banks were greedy, not us.

Do you think the government bailing out some of the top banks will have any effect on our claiming now that they will own the majority share in atleast two of them?
My cynical mind hopes they won't now change any laws to suit themselves!
Do you not trust the government angelwillow:rolleyes: . I know exactly what you mean...
  • Hi all

I don't know if you remember but I was struggling to claim back the PPI insurance taken out on my Egg card.

I have sent various letters, but the bottom line is that I didn't want it from day one and I didn't tick the box to opt out of the policy, all along they have told me that I had ticked the opt in button.

So the final letter that I sent to Egg was asking them to provide evidence to back up there claim that I had opt in for PPI, I got a letter last Friday which had a screen shot showing the payment protection screen and the PPI boxes unchecked, the thing is how do I know if this was my application as there is no date anywhere on the screen shot, or just an example of what they use in application now, bearing in mind that I applied for my Egg card in 2001?.

In the letter sent it says.....

"Please find enclosed a print out of the screen which confirms that the tick boxes were not pre-selected. I am unable to provide any further documentation to support my decision.

If you are not happy with my decision and wish to pursue this matter further, please contact the Financial Ombudsman service, I am obliged to inform you that as the application was completed over six years ago, it falls out of the Financial Ombudsman service jurisdiction.

This is my final response and I have now closed this complaint

So have I still got any grounds to go on, I am still 100% sure that I did not select the PPI as I just did not need it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Just take it to the FOS now. Egg were a bank so the six year rule may not apply here as the FOS can apply various codes in place at the time. Do not give up just because they tell you to. Aso if you only just became aware of the misselling then often the FOS takes that into account.
