Hi skoda lover,
I am really sorry to hear that it has taken so long for you to receive an unlock code. The timeframe does differ depending on the manufacturer but it shouldn't realistically take longer than two weeks.
So I can look into this for you, can you send me an email via the link here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject. If you include a link to your post and a contact number, I will get in touch.
Many thanks,
Heidi

I was given an iPhone 3G by my son-in-law, who had upgraded. It was locked to O2. I paid Officialiphoneunlock.co.uk £25 (plus VAT which they failed to make clear until I was just about to complete the order) and was promised an unlock within 5 days max or my money back. Two months later, after lots of spurious excuses from them and repeated requests from me for a refund which were ignored, my phone was still locked. Then they said I had to give them another £40 to complete the unlock. I ignored them, and they went away. I then discovered that because my son-in-law was still with O2, they would unlock my phone for free - which they did. I feel very aggrieved that Trading Standards washed their hands of what is clearly a scam and would not take up my case. Buyer beware!0

Tried mobile-unlock-now for a code for my Samsung i5700, but when I clicked on the paypal button to pay, all it did was to refresh the homepage. Not even a message to tell me if my phone was compatible with their service or not.
Anyway, I have posted a campaign suggestion on '38Degrees' calling for it to be made illegal for network operators to sell phones locked to their network.
Please feel free to vote it to the top of the list.Never Knowingly Understood.

Hi, I bought a second hand I-phone from a work colleague when she upgraded to the latest model. After a bit of searching on this site into which is the cheapest I-phone tariff, I stumbled upon the Giff-Gaff forum, where I found this...
"****Please note there is no code required to unlock your iphone/ipad****
1) Insert a non-Orange 3G SIM card. This must be a network provider who also supplies the iphone/ipad.
2) Switch ON the handset.
3) Connect to iTunes using USB cable
4) Use the “restore” option within iTunes (located at the bottom of iTunes not the top)
5) The handset may then display: USB cable and iTunes icon.
6) Disconnect from USB then re-connect
7) Synchronise device with iTunes
8) Once synchronised a message will appear on iTunes stating “Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked” If using IOS5 this message will not show
9) Follow on screen set up instructions to enable new carrier settings
Your handset should now be successfully unlocked.
I can confirm that this worked, and I am now happily £20 better off!! - Yippee!!!!!0 -

I think the process and charges for unlocking are outrageous. I have sent the following complaint to OFCOM and urge others to do the same:
"I am leaving T-Mobile but keeping my phone I got from them and am moving to a SIM only package. When I obtained my PAC fromthem I asked if there was anything else I needed to do to switch accounts - I was told no. However on attempting to use my new SIM card I discovered I need a mobile network unlock code from T-Mobile. I have 3 problems with this which merit OFCOM investigation:
1) The charge of 15 pounds is not transparent or fair.
2) Why are phones locked to specific networks in the first place? - Is this not just an unjustifiable moneymaking scam?
3) T-Mobile told methat the process to obtain my code could take up to 28 days - given that I had already provided my PAC to my new provider that would mean I would have nearly a month without use of my phone - this measure is therefore an obstruction to trouble free switching and should not be allowed (especially since there are online sites that sell codes in minutes (but the problem is knowing which are trustworthy and which are not).
I am hoping to resolve my individual issues with T-mobile and, following my assertive discussions and endurance over a 1 hr long phone call, they have promised they will waive the charges and make the process quicker in my case. However I do not believe others should have to go through the same experience and also I am aware from internet site discussion (moneysavingexpert.com) that there are similar problems with other providers. I look forward to OFCOM pursuing these matters."0 -
Fingers crossed.0

[STRIKE]http://ask.ofcom.org.uk/help/telephone/changing_mobile_providerIt must be issued to you immediately over the phone or within two hours by text message.
EDIT: ignore this. It was about PAC, not unlocking. There are no any regulations on unlocking.
Get Talkmobile 1x£12 pay monthly sim with 250Mb allowance. It requires 1 month notice to cancel and will work in a phone locked to Voda. If you disable automatic updates 250Mb is sufficient for staying online.0
