they're saying you sign up and then you get the phone... but i thought you need the phone to complete the second part of the contract signup

Another forum said they were told by a o2 shop the phone will not be reduced as such but you will get £100 cashback after 3 months connection effectivly reducing the price. Tommorow will tell what is the truth.

Remember they are just clearing stock as the 3G version will be out soon, (soon as in next month) if all the rumours are to be believed.

ALL iphones are sold without a contract at the time of sale, however in order to activate and use the phone you have to connect to iTunes and enter into a contract. It's a term of the sale is that the user has to sign up at home rather than as is usually the case at the phone shop.

All tariffs include unlimited data enabling you to get the most out of your iPhone. Excessive usage policy applies.
Ha ha ha!!! You have UNLIMITED usage of data downloads, as long as you don't breach their usage limits!!!
There should be a law against such blatantly rip-off contract terms.
£169 is a good price though - now it's only £100 more than it's worth.

I have been into the O2 shop this morning and they would only sell me one at the reduced price with an 18 month/£35 contract. Not worth it so I walked
    away.

Not really a rip off, it's a perfectly reasonable clause.
You'd have to constantly be on the iphone all day to get near to their excessive usage.

    Hi,

I bought my iPhone 1 month and 2 days before they dropped the price by £100

Does anyone know what the consumer rights I have in this sort of situation? Is there any likelihood that I could get some of the that money back?

    Thanks!

No you can't get a thing, it's just bad timing.

It's like buying something before the sales start.

None unfortunately. They informed you of the price and you agreed to it, and a contract was formed.

Some companies may however as a gesture of goodwill but very few particularly at such a large drop. Amazon for example have a price promise so do SVP but we are taking of a week, not over a month
