Apple iphone (8gb) price reduced to £169 from tomorrow

Just been to town looking for an iphone and the girl in the o2 shop said that the price was going down to £169 tomorrow, a saving of 100 notes. I presume that it should be available at this price at Carphone Warehouse.
Not sure whether to believe it but it will be a cracking bargain if true.
PS This was with a £35 per month contract but we all know this is optional

Read this on Carphonewarehouse site.......
Your iPhone is restricted to use on the O2 Network. If you do not enter into an airtime agreement with O2 on one of our iPhone tariffs you will not be able to use your iPhone (including the iPod function). If you enter into but do not remain in an airtime agreement with O2 on one of our iPhone tariffs you will not be able to use the phone, internet and other related services on your iPhone (but will be able to use the iPod function.) Attempting to use services on any other network, for example by replacing the SIM card, may mean your iPhone becomes permanently unusable. Subject to an 18 month minimum term contract. Credit check required; must be 18 years or older; online billing and payment by direct debit only. Inclusive minutes cover calls to std UK landlines (starting 01,02,03), calls to O2 mobiles and other UK mobiles from the UK only. Inclusive text messages cover texts sent to UK mobiles only. Inclusive data and Wi-Fi applies to use in the UK only, at any of The Cloud’s hotspots for Wi-Fi, subject to fair use policy. Refer to O2’s website for airtime terms and conditions.
If your iPhone is lost, stolen or damaged and you want to replace it you will have to purchase a new iPhone at the normal retail price and arrange with O2 for a replacement SIM Card. In these circumstances, your existing O2 Airtime Agreement will continue but you will not need to enter into a new O2 Airtime Agreement to replace it or in addition to0 -
Don't forget £100/£60 if you go through Quidco and buy from O2.co.uk/cpw.co.uk respectively.
Though I'm not sure if this would work if you don't actually sign upto contract.
If it works then potentially iPhone for £69!!0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: This subject is something of a grey area where the law is concerned. Am I correct in thinking this ONLY applies to iPhones, ONLY inthe Carphone Warehouse and ONLY on the 8GB model? The deal becomes less tempting the more I think about it. Surely shops such as o2 will have to dramatically slash prices soon due to excess of stock. I may just hold my hat on this one.RPoints : £10 But VERY Slow:mad: Slice The Pie : £5:A WritersShare : £1:eek: Treasure Trooper : $5 (Need $20!)

as for the carphone warehouse, judging by the bbc article that someone has linked to, it would seem that the O2 shops are doing this offer as well as the carphone warehouse. the iphone is exclusive to O2 so the carphone warehouse wouldn't be able to go ahead with this offer without O2 as far as i'm aware
so i wouldn't expect to see any dramatic slahing of prices0 -
