Morning everyone
((((hugs)))) smoky
Cold and sunny here. No washing in machine yet but will put some in soon. Start back at work again tomorrow after a spell off so I'm looking forward to that while also being aware that I need to be on top of things here so i don't get over tired. DD is staying here at the mo for a few weeks more so she is great with menu plans, shopping, cooking, cleaning, making lists...I can hire her out
Veggie pasta for tea and spag bol for OH who wasn't hungry for tea last night.
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning all

Lovely sunny day here, with a touch of frost on the cars that is quickly melting away.
Two washloads done already and about to be put out on the line, another one in the machine as I type. Dinner pulled out the freezer and defrosting (Home made chilli), lunch is going to be veg soup made from last nights leftover veg.
I'm going to spend this morning having a bit of a clean around the house - it really needs a vac as the kids seem to have spent the whole of yesterday cutting up little pieces of paper into tiny pieces of paper and then sprinkling them all around the house.
Why, I can't imagine, but it kept them quiet!!
Going to spend a little more time up the allotment this afternoon, I really must finish getting it ready for planting.
lo had a great day yesterday, thanks for all the birthday wishes, mil didnt even phone to say happy birhday to him:mad:
Kyle - It makes you so mad when people can be so selfish, doesn't it? DS had his 9th birthday on 10/April and my Mum hasn't even bothered to send him a card
My relationship with her is pretty distant, but to take it out on her own grandson....
Essex-Girl - hope you are feeling better soon.
Have a good day everyone. As usual, hugs to those who need/want them:)0 -
Morning all.
Just about the make a smoothie and then get ready for the day. Off to the Drs and then going to Sainsburys to stock up on flour! Strong white, and value sr and plain for us! OH said I should use what I can of the GC money I have left-about a fiver-so that should get us some stuff at least! When I get back I'll be painting and perhaps doing some baking, yummy.

Morning all
Well, the clean up we had on Sunday didn't inspire DDs to keep it that way  so I did my moaning mummy routine before bed last night and everything is now back in place
which is a good job, as the effort on Sunday has taken it out of me, so I'm moving at snail's pace today.
I've given the bathrooms a once over this morning - well, upstairs bathroom, downstairs wc. Why is it a wc - I should look that up..........It means "water closet" and is an old fashioned term, no longer in everyday use. So now I'm old fashioned at 36
Actually, my dad told me the other day that I was old fashioned - I've had some adaptions made to make getting round the house easier, one of which was extra banisters on each of the stairs. Apparently, no one says banisters any more - it's hand rails! So, I've had extra hand rails fitted :rotfl:
Anyhoo, back to today. We've an asda delivery later, and the girls will be making pizza for their tea later, so I've got to make up the dough. For science, they're looking at nutrition, and we did an experiment yesterday to see - out of two foods - which had more fat in it. The girls chose sausage and cheese [tonight's pizza ingredients] and squished a bit on paper to extract any fat, then held the paper up to the light. It's amazing how much fat there is in sausage
Our food budget is starting to creep up again, so I'm going to look at ways to reduce it [the asda delivery is a start] and will hopefully be batch cooking tomorrow to stock up on freezer meals. OS has pretty much slipped lately so we need to get back on track - again
:grouphug: Smokey and anyone else who needs or wants one.
Have a great day all

Argh, I've not got a fiver left after checking my receipts, but about £2! What do I do? Shall I use some of my safety net money or just go over by a couple of quid this month?

Go over this month. I have been having a little online moan about ASDA putting up the price of their white bred flour from 48p to 75p - I would get the flour now as you don't know if ASDA will drop their price or the others will follow the increase. Best to play it safe:DArgh, I've not got a fiver left after checking my receipts, but about £2! What do I do? Shall I use some of my safety net money or just go over by a couple of quid this month?0 -
PIPKIN - I use old-fashioned language all the time. My boys laugh when I say 'hi-fi' but you should hear them when DH says 'wireless! - they fall about in hysterics! It also took DH ages to realise he could walk around with our new cordless phone. I don't use the term 'w'c' but I do have banisters, not handrails! My friends think I'm old-fashioned because I wear an apron - I don't see why!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
