That could mean diverting loads of surface water into the sewer system. All of the surface water that was allowed to drain into the river (Roch?).
I know and any neighbour could think they will sort their guttering to go to river flow without realising it will end up in the sewer.
I guess its for the EA to decide whether the costs and time of finding the culprit is worth more or less than the loss of rain water into the river.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Rain water is ok into the river, my down spouts actually do go into it (and my kitchen sink hence the new drain I put in going to the proper sewer)
Anyway I have back filled the trench now cos I was thinking today about your thought, but the trouble is the river pipe is actually 7 foot 4 inch down and
A - couldnt be @rsed digging that deep and
B- it gets quite dangerous working that deep without shoreing the sides up (more expense) the trench dig and pipage has come to £250 as it is + me back filling so pretty naused off allready about it. I dont mind paying it as such cos I want the river clean and that IS my fault (well kinda) its not my doing but...... you know unforseen problems DO crop up with houses its a fact of life.
So paying for the poo on top is not what I want to do
and especially it'll make a really bad ending to this awesome thread0 -
Hey nelly mate, you sound a bit despondent tonight. Whatever way this eventually goes, I guarantee at some time, someone else somewhere, will have a similar problem and will be able to read of your experience - just think of yourself as a poo pioneer

It will also send out the wrong message from the EA, "don't worry about your plops we'll just make someone else divert their fouled up guttering into the sewers.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Is the 7'4" trench far enough away from the house - wouldn't want you to have to shore up the house foundations as well?FREEDOM IS NOT FREE0

No, that's the depth of the plop pipe, he didn't want to dig that far so he filled his shallower trench in.
Nelly needs to sort his in-turd-net connection out so he can update us all.0 -
High time this thread was consigned to the dustbin as it must be the most boring, uninteresting topic on MSE?
This comes from the guy who started this thread:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=10805225#post10805225
Which was exactly how much use to humanity??
The only reason he wants this to stop is because he is the Poo-Pertrator, The PlopMeister, The Covert Culvert himself. He has infiltrated the ranks and beleives that sabotage of this thread will lead to a dropping of the investiation so he will be able to continue with his Faecal crimes in the future.....
And he's still reading "the most boring thread" well 16,000 hits and counting says you are wrong:p
By the way Nelly, could completely understand the use of the trench to dispose of the misses, what she did with the Wine Gums was unforgivable....0 -
