does anyone think we will get anything?
I think the only thing will all be getting is our £5.44 back.
However I have a book here called Know Your Rights,it says about buying and selling.
When we buy goods or services we are entering into a contract with the seller.
I as the consumer agree to pay the price, and she/he as the seller agrees to supply the goods, regardless of whether we are aware of its existence or not, though this contract is governed by various Acts of Parliment, and these Acts bring to the contract 'implied terms'which,on the whole protect the consumer.

there has just been a news item on my local radio about this - apparently the whole system has failed due to the number of orders and homebase are looking into how this happened. no mention of customers actually getting the tellys though.

Well i ordered one last night, i got the conformation email this morning but i dont hold out any hope out on getting me tele but am wondering, if i spin 'em a yarn about having thrown the old tele away, and having cancelled the tele i had on order, now the kids are facing christmas without any television at all - and its all their fault...... do you think i will get any conpensation for their incompetance? Especially if i get the press involved.

I would settle for a £50 gift voucher but i am wondering if i am selling myself short.:D Especially as i could have probably sold the tv and paid for christmas out of the procedes.:j

Going back a couple of pages (went to bed and 10+ pages had been added, heh), if they didnt send the TV's (and they took money off people) all they would have to do is give people their money back. I very much doubt there's a court in the country that would force Argos/Homebase to send 1000's/10000's of 49p TVs to people which would probably cripple them.

We may have rights, but when it comes to a matter of crippling a company or giving people their TVs a court would side with the company's. There must have been 1000's (if not 10,000+) of these TVs ordered its posted on so many places. It would put the company out of business probably and there's no way a court would be able to do that and make thousands of peopple unemployed.

The courts can and more than likely will protect company's when such a big price mistake happens.

Not keen on the attitude of some of the messages here....it's a bit of fun that's all...

'spinning yarns' equates to lying and i guess that is not what I am about ...nor the ethos of mse at all
