HI All

Some good info here but its obvious that the rules are not very plain for some to follow.

We have setup a web site that will hopefully hold all the info anyone will ever need regarding the use of bus passes along with info on routes and favorite journeys. We would appreciate input from anyone interested, simply visit the Bus Pass Forum and web site at www.buspassheaven.co.uk

Enjoy this thread very much :j

Good luck with your website.

Just a couple of quick points:

1.. Unless you're Max Davidson, the Daily Telegraph may not be too happy with you claiming copyright on their 20 great bus routes!

2.. It would be helpful if your 'additional regional concessions' pages identified if they were available to ALL pass-holders or merely for local residents.
• Yes, I need to acknowledge the fact that the article came from Daily Telegraph and have planned a section on regional (county) concessions ie what's available as a special concession if you live ina certain county.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks Brimo - a true pioneer. Came across www.hospitalityclub.org today and wondered if that could be something for us oldies on our trips round England. Not much point in all the free bus trips if we have to pay a fortune for B&B. Have to check into it further if oldies play a role or is it just for youngsters bumbing round the world.

Just a thought, why don't all us bus pass kids think about setting up our own network. We could use the same rules and regs. At least we would know what we were getting into. Would be very interested in comments. I would be prepared to head the list when its made.

A deadly hush fell over the thread, let me activate it a little. I live in Tunbridge Wells in Kent and offer free B&B to bus pass adventurers on their travels providing others think this would be a good thing to start on. Lets discuss this - who is for and who is 'agin?

EXCHANGING PERSONAL DETAILS

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: For legal reasons I have to discourage swapping, buying and selling on the forum (please see this rule). While it can be a very useful way of saving money it relies on a certain amount of trust between members and as such can cause problems (and has in the past). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com

If you have a free bus pass and want to travel, like most other people, you are only familiar with the services within your borough/county. For example within Northants, there is a service X4 which runs between Peterborough & Milton Keynes, albeit through Kettering/Wellingborough/Northampton. This would be ideal for covering a fairly long distance free, something we are unable to do with coach operators.

Do you know of any interesting, long distance bus routes that can be done for free?

Sorry everybody - didn't mean to rock the boat. Thus no B&B in Tunbridge Wells folks - sorry - I meant well.

I am SO looking forward to my bus pass (January 2010). I usually live in Spain but have been in the UK for five weeks and still have another two weeks to go, we intend to be here for months at a time in 2010 when I get my Pension - having been here this length of time I know I will wear my bus pass out.

I'm going to take a week off at a time off and travel around the UK!:D This is also fitting in with SKI-ing!

(edited to add) Merrywidows, I'd still like to take up your offer!

I've tried to pull together a list of the longest bus routes in England (by time of travel).

If you know of any more over 2 hours let me know and I'll update it.
