The icesave isa transfer form contains loads of personal information, for example a/c numbers, NI number, full name & address etc. It worries me that if this form didn't arrive, or ended up in the wrong hands, that a LOT of damage could potentially be done (ID theft etc.). You can't be too careful these days with personal information..
Therefore my questions is....
Can you send this form to icesave RECORDED DELIVERY? ICESAVE's address is a PO BOX? Would someone from icesave have to go and collect my form from royal mail (I can't see them doing this personally!). How would royal mail get a signature from a PO box?!
Has anyone else posted the isa transfer form to icesave recorded delivery; and did it get there?!
Thanks in advance.

My Grandfather, who used to be a Postie, always advised - Never use Recorded or Registered - for stuff you want to get there - as it's the first to attract the attention of 'opportunists' - What's the use of a bit of compo, when it's your details have gone astray ?0

Posted all of ours by ordinary mail, you can of course send it by recorded if you feel safer, and usually the Royal Mail will put a list of all recorded mail numbers for large buisnesses, and one signature suffices for all.0

Obviously you can't be "compensated" if your details are nicked:rolleyes: . I simply want to make sure it gets there, and recorded/special delivery let you know if it did. Special delivery is without a doubt safer than regular post, and this would be my choice. Anyone done this please?0 -
I posted mine normal mail, no problems.
All mail will have your full name and address on it by its very nature. As for account numbers etc, don't you get bank statements/credit card statements/new cards etc by post?
I think it's possible to get too worried about these kinds of things.0 -

Good Point, about knowing if it's got there or Not, and your details are probably a lot safer with the Royal Mail than with HM Govt.0 -

I don't think you can be too careful these days. Taking sensible precautions with your personal info is very important in my opinion; and I'm sure tens of thousands of people who have been victims of ID theft would agree. Why make it easy for the fraudsters. The form contains...
full name and address.... a/c numberS..... NI No..... Signature..... DOB.
If your application hadn't arrived, you'd be quite concerned I'm sure. All I'm saying is, surely it makes more sense to send it special delivery for more peace of mind.0 -

It'd be interesting to know how many are victims of fraud as a result of details sent by post compared to the number of those who are victims of fraud by other means - for example, internet banking or other online transactions, skimming, etc. In all the years we have been sending personal documents by post, neither I nor anyone else I know has fallen victim to fraud as a result of something sent in that manner (though I appreciate that it doesn't mean it doesn't happen); on the other hand, I know several who have fallen victim to fraud via the internet and card skimming. I'm just saying that I weigh up the risks and worry about them accordingly.0

in answer to the original post.
you can send any mail to a po box,it makes little difference.
for most big companys a po box is just a way to hide the mailing address plus if they move office it can(to an extent) have the po box moved to the new address without changing pre printed envelopes etc
for large companies the mail is delivered as normal to the address the po box relates to.
small users can either have the mail posted or collected in person0 -
