Just to warn you that Primus seem to be having more billing issues and that our recent bill was (according to them) one of several where off-peak and weekend 01/02 calls were charged where the duration was over 60 minutes rather than 90 minutes. In all instances so far they've had to forward the bills to the billing department and we've been told to call up on Tuesday to find out what's going on.

A fool and their money are easily parted.
  • I've also been charged 2.5p/min for calls in excess of 1 hour. There's also been a change in the call duration shown on the bill. Any call under 1 hour now has the call duration shown as 1 hour.

Just checked my latest bill and found the same and been charged for several calls over 60 but less than 90 minutes.

Primus say they are aware of the problem and customers will be credited, going to have to check and make sure it is sorted.

This morning I received an e-mail inviting me to check my account online with a bill supposedly dated the 2nd of May 2008 (i.e. tomorrow) for £28.50. There's no way we've made calls amounting to that much since the last bill and a call to Primus Customer Services mentioned yet more billing problems. The previous erroneous calls have yet to be credited too so all in all I'm afraid I do have to start questioning how competent these people are

Billing errors have got me worried!
I was going to recommend some family members to go down the Heinz plan route with an Orchid dialler.

How common have Primus billing errors been over the years??

Well I have also had problems with Primus! Since December I have had numerous calls (30-40 per time, every 30 seconds) to an 0870 number. Contacted Primus in March, was asked to fax them and received no reply. Faxed again in April and no reply.

Latest bill today and the calls continue until March 1st when another 0870 starts as before. Raised it with Primus and was told our complaint had been looked at (not that they'd bothered to tell us) and it's nothing to do with them, it's BT.

BT India tried to tell us it's a broadband modem dialing the number! Sensible person at BT is now looking at this, but cannot tell us who owns the number due to data protection (is it me!!!).

However, Primus are responsible so now waiting for a supervisor top call back, but I know this won't happen. Meanwhile Primus continue to make money from numbers we aren't calling!

I have only one device that can dial out and it doesn't call the number concerned.

    For interest the numbers are:

    08708501531

    08712005033

    Drink......

PS say no to 0870 doesn't tell you how to say no to calls you are not making!!!
Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!

I simply don't trust them to bill correctly. The current bill again shows 01/02 calls being billed that are over 60 minutes but under 90 minutes but goes back to February for some odd reason  I'm fed up and going to call BT to be taken off Primus CPS tomorrow as frankly they seem utterly useless

Just checked and our previous bill (last month) only went back to February 14th for some odd reason so this carries on the errors from there :(

Because BT's Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan is so similar to Primus Saver Option 2 now, I've done a version of my 6-steps to cost reduction post for people on that/who switch to that.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Have never had a problem with Primus in two years till last month, I have also had the same problem again this month, plus they credited and corrected the incorrect amount they charged last month and have then added it back on this months bill.

Phoned them today usual excuses i.e just switched to new computer system, still being sorted out etc.
Told them it had better be sorted by next month or they will be a customer less.
