It might have been said already, but could she in theory work at two different tescos? I've got one 5 minutes walk away and another one where I work just down the road for that (Both Tesco Extras), she might be able to work a few evenings near a place she is during the week, and one during the weekend?

I currently work 8 hours a week, (4 hours Wednesday afternoon and 4 Friday evening), so maybe if she worked all day Saturday?

Also, when I went for my interview, I applied for checkouts, however got a job on Dairy, so it may not be what she wants, but its a job (Although I like dairy more than checkouts), you can also get trained for different departments for overtime as well.

Do you have connexions near you? Try popping into them, they can help with her CV and interview advice (I was getting the interviews, but not the jobs, so I went to speak to them about it).

Also, you phoning up isn't doing any favors, if she doesn't want to go round town going into every shop by herself, its ok for you to go with her, but if she doesn't do the talking it doesn't look good at all.

Btw, thats another good thing, go into every shop asking, thats what I did.

To the poster who commented on Tesco's, unfortunately you can't work at 2 at the same time.

I'm glad you liked working on dairy...I was a dairy and provisions manager for Tesco for ages!

Actually you can. I'm only saying that because 2 people in my halls go back and fourth depending where they are (i.e. at uni or at home).

Nobody was saying that she would never get a job, only that you were making it more difficult. She's done very well to succeed, despite everything, so well done to her.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.
