left over curry or chilli is really nice.

I was about to say something very similar! Left over curry, chili, bolognese - anything saucy really! Not in an "ooh matron" kind of way... :o

beaten egg- it fluffs up like an omelette and is delish with salad cream

apple and sugar for turnover esque puddin

You don't even need to beat it, just crack it on the bread, top and close the machine. Somehow it all levels out!:p

When I worked in an old folks home, they had their three course meal at lunch time and had a high tea type snack at night and we used to make tinned salmon mixed with black pepper, initially I have to admit I thought yugh but once you have tried it they are delicious. Its normally cheese with many options in our house, ranging from ham, onion, tomato, mushroom, spring onion.
I do roast beef and onion, saute the onions first though so they are soft

Grilled fish finger and tomato ketchup toasties
  • Left over roast lamb with roasted carrots and parsnip and a little bit of mint sauce.... absolutly divine in a toasted sandwich! other wise cornbeaf and tomatoe, chicken sweetcorn & bakedbeans or simply cheese and tomatoe etc

for sweat as others have mentioned peanut butter and banana, peanut butter and jam. Chocolate and banana especially when served with a scoop of icecream.

Hope this gets the taste buds working overtime ;)

generally i only have ham and cheese or cheese and marmite. tip tho, pspread the marmite on the cheese ( i use cheese slices, not the burger type the normal cheese type) and it is so much easier this way.

but hubby loves beans and cheese,
    mushrooms,ham and cheese,
    spring onions and cheese,
    bacon and mushroom with cheese.

Morning all! We've just bought a toastie maker, and I'm looking for some inspiration from you lot - what's your favourite filling?

So far we've only had ham, cheese and onion, which we love - if ever we're at a festival that has a toastie van, that's what we always have. We were at one a few years ago and decided one morning to have a toastie for breakfast, when we walked up to the window all the ladies working there shouted out 'ham cheese and onion, with EXTRA ONION!'. Hmm, apparently we'd been there the night before and amused them no end. Not that we remembered!!! :o
