Hi there
Well, thank goodness it is Friday. Was back at work this week and it was the first team meeting this morning with the new 'leader'. Well the person who didn't get the job went out of the way to make an atmosphere - baby, dummy, pram - get the message? Then we had another smaller meeting (just us) and one or two of the comments totally out of hand. I think the unsuccessful candidate has to either realise changes are afoot (probably for the best) or look for another job!
My darling Mobley Phone has been missing in action for about 10 days. I hardly use him but do like to have him around when in car etc in case of breakdown. Well, had a brainwave tonight - thought remember when I took boys out about a fortnight ago and had my pushchair for the baby. Yes, well you have guessed it, there he was in the under seat basket. PAYG so not too concerned if he had gone missing but glad to get him back.
Hope all is well with you all, had only very quick looks at the thread but I did catch yours Martyn - I am so glad you had tears of laughter last night!
Take care you all and I am off to hopefully finish my second square (not entirely happy with it though!).

Good evening,
Lovely to see a more positive post from you Martyn!
PurpleIvy - I've heard that "I Predict A Riot" before on Radio One and thought it was great - how fab that you're in it! :T
Bellie - re your lemon drizzle - do check that you used the right sized tin. Was the oven at the right temp when you put it in? I think thats important with baking. And next time test the cake when you take it out of the oven using a skewer ( i use a wooden kebab skewer) - if its still damp in the middle you know to put it back in. All ovens are different so it can be trial and error at first but the results are worth it when it goes right!
:hello: for everyone else - i can't remember much of what I've read!
Got to work today and the main system was down, so i spent an hour sorting through a cupboard tidying/throwing old stuff/preparing the rest for archive. I felt great afterwards as i'd put it off for ages with the excuse of being "too busy".
Came home and deep-cleaned the fridge. Towards the end OH (after having a little nap) asked what i was doing then asked if tea was ready. I said no, and he said he needed to go out at 6.30 - it was 6.05 by this time! So after a bit of a complain from me "well you didn't tell me" i said "feel free to come and start cooking it yourself", which he very cheerfully did and tea was a lovely pasta with sauce made out of fridge leftovers. Why does food taste so much better when someone else has made it?! :rotfl:
Hugs for everyone xxxx0 -
Evening everyone, well managed to pick up the wi-fi signal in the 'van so managed to read the thread today. ((((hugs)))) to those feeling the relief of it being Friday, feel a bit guilty of not knowing what day it is these days. (((ageandjo)))) hope things are better soon. (((smokybabe & lo's))) (((everyone else)))
Martyn - did I miss something last night? Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Welcome all newbies - I am the one with wonderlust.
Went to the Menin Gate last post last night, very crowded. The Air Cadets band (from somewhere) were there and playing so it was a little different when it is just the Belgian fire brigage buglers playing the last post. Also a couple of schools were there too. Today we went back into Ypres, and went round the Cathedral, and St George's Chapel. It looks a really old town, but it was almost flat at the end of WW1, but has been rebuilt as it was, and a great job they have done of it too, even the cobbled streets. After lunch we went out to see some of the War Cemetaries and Memorials. Went to one at Tyne Cot, stands for Tyne Cottages, named by the Northumberland Brigade when they were fighting there. 80% of the graves in this particular one could not be named, some are totally unidentifyable, others can be attached to a regiment or a country, it is very moving even for a tough nut like me. They are kept so beautifully though, and respected by the countries they are in.
Tomorrow we move on to Antwerp, after trying to catch the market in Ypres first thing.
Take care

If only it lasted
It's been yet another of those days I'm afraid. If being exhausted wasn't enough, everything and everybody seem to be conspiring to wind me up. Apart from recomissioning the water system and sorting out the auxilliary electrics in the motorhome, the only good thing I can think of about today is that it will soon end!
And I have my doubts about tomorrow as well. Of all the days in the year to pick from, I end up on call tomorrow, and there's no prizes for guessing who does the duty rota at w**k  It's possibly her final parting shot at me and I am trying soooooooo hard not to rise to it.
I feel a quiet corner to curl up in is a-calling

Martyn, it's such a cliche but I have to say it - there will be ups and downs but you will get gradually better over time. And if there are days that you can't see it you'll just have to trust those of us who can. Try not to expect bad things of tomorrow or it might become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
My OH has a saying he likes - "This too shall pass" - it refers to the good days as well as the bad i'm afraid but it helps him get through the bad days and appreciate the good days. His wife left him, and he's had depression and anxiety for most of the time i've known him and i've seen him steadily improve - so i can tell you it does get better.
I hope i don't sound like i'm preaching and apologise if this comes across wrong - its not always easy in text. I feel for you and wish i could help. Take care of yourself.

PS Happy Birthday for tomorrow Martyn (((Birthday Hugs)))0
