Hi guys,
I had a lovely phonecall from my half brother (the one that traced us through the internet) last night, bless him he was really upset for us.
I saw my GP yesterday and he has written me up for some sleepers for a couple of weeks and signed me off for another month. He wanted to know if I could still function! I told him yes but only because I have to..... He seemed to think that I might be in shock and that this could go on for 6 months. I have never heard of this before. Anyway he wanted to know if I felt I needed anything to help and I told him that at the moment I really don't know what I am feeling apart from being petty numb and will go back if I think I need anything.
I have contacted OH's employers for someone to come and pick up his work clothes and my sister is organizing a garden makeover for the begining of the next month, The gardens are both a train wreck but OH always insited that he would sort them out after the op - him being a gardener and all - the first to be done will be the front. I shall have to dig out the camera and sort out some before and after pics. My brother in law is a chippy and instead of flowers for the funeral they will pay for the wood and build the fence and gate for it.
Tomorrow I think I am going to sort out all of the childrens clothes, maybe sort out our wardrobes - I will see how I feel about that one tomorrow though.
I hope you all have a good weekend, thank you for all your hugs.

Smoky - hugs for you and your children. My mother had a similar response to yours when she lost my dad. It did take months, so one day at a time.
What a kind gesture from your BIL - you'll be able to benefit from that for a long time to come.

:kisses3: Smokey I admire you so much, the way you just keep going! You may well be in shock, you can only take a day at a time really. But it's good to know you have support from family and friends. And all of us here in OS

Hi all.
(((((hugs))))) smoky and children-you're doing really well smoky in such difficult circumstances-as everyone else is saying little steps and one day at a time-and vent on here as much as you like we're all here for you.
(((hugs))) for all who need or want one.
Not much to tell tonight. Gas man still hasn't fixed boiler-coming back tomorrow, it needs a new pump-I'm no plumber but I told him yesterday that it needed a new pump (I had spoken with a very good friend of mine who is a plumber but he lives 100 miles away and he said it was the pump-based on the info I had given him) but obviously he didn't believe me so we have another night with no hot water or central heating-so I'm a bit mad to say the least (mad as in annoyed not crackers...honest)
Just having a cuppa then gonna try and finish another knitted square.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Hi folks,
busy day to-day...off about 15 miles this morning for a coffee morning to raise funds for DGS2's school...up over a lake and sunny at the time, so it was a nice drive, haven't been in that area for more than 30 years I reckon, so enjoyed it immensely.
OH and I went out to lunch to-day, just main course at a local restaurant, we both had cod and chips...very nice, even if I do feel guilty every time I eat cod.
Crochet this afternoon, doing well with DGD3 christening shawl, will be too big to take with me to OZ, so need to finish it before I go.
Got all my Oz accommodation booked and car for trip from Melbourne to Adelaide, so am beginning to feel that it is really happening, dragging OH out to get him some shoes to-morrow.
Smoky...you are such a brave, strong lady...if the hugs help have a bundle with my best regards.
Welcome to newbies
Night all

Smoky lovely to hear from you. I hope you get more sleep with the tablets as I'm sure it will make you function a bit better during the day. Sorting out clothes and wardrobes is a good idea. You see the results after a short time and you feel like you've got somewhere. I hope the children are all well and not as crushed. They are strong little things and amaze me sometimes how much comfort they give you unintentionally. You are doing remarkably well and we are all proud of you. <hugs>

Can't stay on here long this morning as I"m babysitting DGS for the day. Lovely sunny day so will put a load of washing on shortly. Tuscan Bean Slop leftovers for tea tonight.I've got another portion frozen for a dire emergency.
Hope you all have a great sleep & I shall read the rest of the thread now. ByeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0
