  • I cycled past a mobile speed van last week travelling at 35mph. I was going down a steep hill though...now then can someone tell me if they would catch me (a bike) going at that speed?

I don't think they could find out who i am :j

    or any cyclist!!

I nearly reduced their numbers by one yesterday when the tit went straight through a red traffic light when I was turning across his path. It wasn't as if the lights had just changed - I was the 5th or 6th car making this maneouvre after the lights had changed to green for us.

Apparently I was a f*cking w*nker. I'm guessing that this is a term used by cyclists to describe road users who comply with the law?

As usual, we have the self-righteous brigade declaring "if you don't speed you won't get a ticket", and "if you got a penalty notice, you must have been speeding, so pay up".

Unfortunately, neither of these things are true, I have the evidence to prove that camera operators can create deliberately false readings, and also have the records of 21 contested penalty notices where the Police and CPS were unable, or unwilling, to provide the "evidence" in Court.

The whole system of so-called safety cameras is just a cash cow for the treasury, and it's all based on the fact that 96% of drivers, when they get a fixed penalty notice, meekly pay up the £60 because they believe all the lies and spin put out by the "safety camera partnerships".

Should you choose to contest the ticket in court, the police, the CPS and even in some cases the court officials will all lie and try to bully you into pleading guilty. Magistrates have also been known to ignore facts, and the law, and wrongly convict people who then have to go to Crown Court to get justice.

Next time you're passing a police van with an open window filming traffic, just remember that the device inside will almost certainly be an LTi 20:20, imported from the USA by Teletraffic Ltd, who sell these devices to nearly all UK Police forces. The main shareholding director of this company is Frank Garrett, an ex-policeman, who is sometimes called as an "expert witness" in court cases. The last time he did this, in Preston Crown Court, he was forced to admit that it is possible to get false readings from these devices, the case collapsed and the appellant successfully got his fine and points revoked, and Mr Garrett's status has now been called into question by a High Court Judge.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Unlike 'most people' I have taken advanced driving lessons and read a great deal on the subject. I have also worked on 26 F1 Grands Prix, 10 years of British Superbikes, BTCC, F3, GT Cars, Carts, so I think I have a good perspective on things.

Your attitude sounds very childish. I bet you flash your headlamps and shake your fist when people overtake you.
:rotfl: :rotfl: Did I mention the word 'denial' in a previous post ..... my wife reads a great deal on the subject of driving as well .. she is hoping one day to apply for a driving licence having never driven a day in her life but could point out 101 mistakes being made by other drivers (including me).

I must admit I am envious of you working on F1 Grand Prix .. never been to a live show. ;)

You are however the first person I know off that refers to someone promoting the obeying of the laws in this country as being 'childish'. I would suggest the childish ones are those that are incapable of obeying the most basic of instructions. Are you promoting a country were we can all pick and choose which laws we want to obey? Can we ignore the law about not using a mobile phone while driving? Curses to that drunk driving law as well? We have laws, they come as a package, we can not pick and choose .. but we can try to bring about reform .. until then if you break them you get exactly what you deserve.

Btw, my best speeding event was being clocked by dibble at 103mph in a 40 zone .. I was no angel when I was younger. However I did grow up.

We all pick and choose which laws we obey. Speed limits are widely ignored, I would guess that around 9/10 drivers exceed them every single day.

I'd rather people ignore laws they don't like. It demonstrates that people still have free will and that the government can't dictate how we run our lives.

I use my mobile phone all the time while driving. Its in a car cradle and requires little intervention from myself.

I have driven a car many times after having a drink or two. I have no problem with it, my standard of driving is superior to a lot of other people even after a pint. By the way there is no such thing as a 'drunk driving' law.

If you think that I'm somehow in denial that's fine, just don't equate those drivers like myself who safely exceed the limit every day with people like yourself who needed to 'grow up'. People who bleat on about speed limits as though they're the be-all and end-all of safe driving generally don't have a clue.
  • Just wait it out, if you receive anything, your in the unlucky 50%. I got done by a mobile, and still (2years later) nothing.

Yea, there is a hang em bandwagon on here. I guess the type that love caravans and mowing the lawn every Sunday.
