Tesco wrong prices thread part 4 - please post your finds here

I disagreed with a CS bod a few weeks back on my second Gammon run.
"It's not the same bar code", he said, "Someone has put them in the wrong place", he added!!
So, I returned the items and got a refund.
Then off to another Tesco, where I got the same item free under the same circumstances.
After a few e-mails to Tesco HQ, I was sent a £10 voucher - but all they really wanted to do was say sorry and tell me they have spoken to the store manager!!0 -
It seems quite a few of us just recently have had more that the usual number of problems with CS at Tesco over refunds on misprices. I had been lucky in my 3 visits so far no problem til yesterday when I was told that people who abuse the policy will only be offered the difference in future [ meaning me] and that Tesco are reviewing this policy at the moment because of abuse. I was also asked for my name and address but refused. I have never taken more than £12 in refunds in one go, when I could have taken more and hardly think I am abusing it. I do think though that those who are taking £30 or more at once may be responsible for Tesco coming down hard as they are clearing loosing a substantial ammout of money. It sadly may be coming to an end I think.0

hmm I think Tesco should really have accurate prices, for instance they seem to not make many mistakes on wine and beer??? strange that....
Also it's not the size of your refund it's the number of refunds collectivly, it would be like M&S suddenly saying no more returns it's like the company motto/foundation policy... they wont change or stop it.scoobylou wrote:It seems quite a few of us just recently have had more that the usual number of problems with CS at Tesco over refunds on misprices. I agree. They should have accurate prices, but if they dont pull the policy then they will have to do something and maybe warning people off as they did with me they hope will be enough. Can they keep the policy though and then say its only for certain people ie 'genuine' refunds [their expression-not mine]. Surely thats discrimination. How do they distinguish geniuine from not. This CS woman had only refunded me once before so based on that its once per customer!0

once per customer!!! maybe they can try this but it wont work in the long term. Many fines could be placed on them and at £1000 a pop it could work out expensive ie: you dont get M&S saying you cant return clothes although it might be clear that your wearing it to weddings and interviews, they just say thank you sir/madam and here is your refund.0

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I don't believe that they are losing substanial amounts of money at all. What about all the people buying the goods at the inflated prices and not noticing - they must be making a mint out of them!!0 -
True, but they had that money AND the money we are now being refunded before. greedy MR T wants it all ways. Wants his cake and to eat it as they say0
-
I think if they don't follow policy just tell them you are off to trading standards after first taking note of Manager and CS names.
If Trading standards start to get these complaints it could cost Tesco a lot more money.0 -
I was over charge 75p on a jar of coffee on Sunday - if 10 people were over charged the same amount in each tesco store that day Mr T would have earned £15000 on over charges on one type/size of coffee alone! - don't think refunding me £5.18 would have hurt him any!
Bear in mind I have been extremely conservative as I'm sure they sell more than 10 jars of nescafe per store per day
and remember this is only the profit on the over charge - not the normal profit on the coffee.0 -
they are infact breaking the law.
i used to work for them, and back then they were fined £2000 for each item that was illegal if someone did come in an check them.
Im a bit rusty on the departments you would have to contact.
their policy is pretty crystal clear that they will refund the item if full.
Just seems that they feel they dont have to fullfill it if your have a lot of values worth in shopping.
Another law they seem to continue to break is blocking fire exits.
i do know that if you see this done, just inform the local fire department.
they have the power to close the store down.
thats a handy one to use at christmas time LOL0
