Did they take your details (name Address) and are they letting you shop there again?

Lesson to learn don't be greedy and buy only 3 - 4 of the same items.

They do seem to be making up the rules as they go along.
  • My husband is a locum pharmacist who works all over the place. On one particular day he was working for Tescos when they had an offer on Cds, videos & DVDs. A guy came in loaded up his trolley & went to the till -every single item was out by a penny. He demanded a refund & that the items be given to him as per their policy and he got it too! Over £1500 worth. I'm guessing someone who works there knew about this.
Ebay~ A wretched hive of scum and villainy. :p

They did ask to take my name and address - however i scribbled it down so badly it was illegible. If they had tried to ban me I would have threatened to involve Trading Standards or threaten to tell a newspaper about my experience. A supermarket trying to hide their mistakes by banning customers from the store?. I'm sure that would go down well.

What does everyone say when they go to get their refunds on pack price discrepancies like on meat?

Sorry redfox just realised this is off-topic - the reason I am asking is because I have had haslle before and when i go to Tesco later I want to say something different if I find any misprices.

Like many others, I love this forum and enjoy the bargains. This is my first post, and wanted to tell you about my expereicne with my Tesco bargain..
The first time I spotted a misprice a few weeks back, I bought a few cheeses, got my refund no problem. This week I thought id be a little braver, and 'test' the policy further. Found some of the nice Finest mispriced cheese. Shelf price £2.57, pack price £2.73. Thought id be brave and bought 20. Paid in excess of £50 for them, and off I went to CS.
The supervisor said as I had bought over 5 items, the poilcy of a refund did not apply, because this was considered a 'Bulk Item Purchase'. Instead, she offered to refund the difference. So I stood my ground and insisited on a refund, after all id spent 50 quid on the stuff!. The Manager came over and spoke to me. Again he repeated because i had purchased over 5 items, the refund policy did not apply. I said the cashier did not stop me buying them, and i had the receipt - the transaction had been completed as far as i was concerned. Still he refused to give me a refund. Funny thing was as he spoke to me, there was a huge sign behind him on the wall, advertising the refund policy! :D
Anyway, I knew what he was saying about the bulk item policy was rubbish. They simply cocked up, the cashier had forgot to stop me at the till, or query the bulk items before I bought them (assuming this Bulk Item Policy does exist anyway), and he was trying to use this as a get out clause to stop me getting my refund after I had bought the goods.
So I asked to see this Bulk Item policy in print. Funnily enough after 10mins or so of waiting he couldn't find/produce it. Anyway, he then told the CS lady to refund me my £50 odd quid, and stormed off, without any apology for the inconveninece. I must say the CS who served me was very polite, and she did apologise.
So it sounds as though Tesco are asking their cashiers to query customers at the till who are buying over 5 items - so they can check the price before the items are purchased.
However, if the cashier doesnt do this, then its tough i guess, Tesco have to refund you in line with their policy.
But stand your ground. Once the purchase has been completed, and you have paid for the goods and have the receipt, Tesco have no get out however they try and wriggle out of it or convince you otherwise.
    Hello,
Found some of the nice Finest mispriced cheese. Shelf price £2.57, pack price £2.73. yesterday too.I m chickren and only manager to get one pack .I went to the customer service counter and the lady told me politely that cheese would be weight differently .(Of course every pack the same size indeed)So,I told her to check it out and she refused.I dont want to argue with her and I left with a smilely face too.The fact is I already email tesco see what they say.

Nice shop today, nice piece of meat, advertised at £3.99kg on pack £5.19 kg, but there were 3 packs with £3.99kg on them, so i did a bit of stock taking and shoved them at the back and the ones with £5.19 at the front, so that the customer services lady would only see them. Nice £7.22 refunded.

Got a dozen eggs shelf price 88p with a big 84p sticker over the top, went through at 88p so £1.76 refunded.

    4 shower gels, £9.98 - £7.98 so £2 for 4.

Tried a few cd's but nothing doing.
Then i went back in and got 4 more shower gels and used self scan. Might go back later and have a butchers at what is on offer. probably go about 9.30pm when the student is on customer services.

I used to say, "I think I've been overcharged" but now just tend to smile sheepishly, shove the product in front of them and say, "The price for this is different on the shelf" and explain how it's different. Sometimes it takes ages to explain exactly what you mean, but they all get it in the end. Also, in my experience, male CS assistants are definitely easier to deal with than women.

Thank you so much everyone for posting - can't wait to go to Tesco tomorrow! Must remember about the shower gels...
