don't think this one has been mentioned before, but apologies if it has (this thread has so many examples of wrong prices in, it's hard to keep up :))

Organic pork loin steaks (pack of two) were £10.99 per kilo on the shelf, but £11.99 per kilo on the packet
  • Hi

I bought 8 beef steaks yesterday costing £20

The shelf price lb for lb was higher than the pack price lb for lb

would CS still do a refund given as I got the cheaper price?

Also, just to complicate matters more

I paid for most of it in somerfield vouchers - The till lady put it all through, it took from my card and then she realised that it was somerfield and said "OH, we're not allowed to accept Somerfield vouchers", promptly called the manager across who comfirmed that, but agreed that I could go as it had all gone through.

Do you reckon that if it is possible to get a misprice refund I should go back, or just enjoy my gains already made through usually unacceptable vouchers?

    Your thoughts welcomed

    Thanks

    walsgravematt,

How it works, is that when there are two (or more) prices for an item, you must pay the lowest one.

In this case, you paid the lower of the two prices, so there's nothing to claim back or refund.

whilst getting refund on smoked salmon, noticed that the 4 silver jewelled tealight holders that I had bought, with reduced price 71p sticker on shelf, had gone through at 1.42, so an unexpected bonus!

been to tescos ilkeston, four packs of smoked salmon 2 different prices cs woman really grumpy and couldn't understand what i meant, luckily she was called away and a more helpful cs woman soon gave me a refund, i did notice a new sign saying no bulk buys over six items and no over charge refunds over six items.

Tesco are on really really dodgy ground on that one that's for sure!

Just got back from another trip to T's.

While I was at the checkout, the Checkout Manager came over to the operator and told her to "shutdown after this customer"!

He was accompanied by two security guards.

I had two bacon joints (mis-priced), 1x Harris 4 pack of bacon (mis-priced), 3x Quattro razor blades with the £3 voucher attached, plus 4x Pot Noodle.

I thought, what are they up to? I then gave one of the security guys a carrier bag and told him to make himself useful!!

The bar code on the bacon joints were partly rubbed off, so he read it out to the checkout girl.

I then heard him mention that someone has been stopped leaving the store, and they didn't have a receipt but said that they paid at this checkout!!

So, I produced my 3 £3 vouchers and paid cash for the rest - makes it easier when getting the refund at CS.

When I got to CS, the same security staff were waiting by the desk.

Still, I got my near-on £11 back for the overcharge, and as I was leaving the security guard said "Someone's come shopping for free".

Whether he meant me or the person stopped earlier, I don't know.

BTW - checkout the "Finest" range of mature cheeses - they are out by about 4p per kg (they are the ones in a little black container, with the price on the back of the packet).

    I've been Money Tipped!
Tescos own 6 free range medium eggs

84p on shelf, 88p at till.

Wouldn't have noticed this in the past. I now go round writing all my prices down on my shopping list so Mr T can't get more of my money than it asks for.
Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
  • Yep - they most certainly are - picked a few up earlier today.

    Tesco Finest Wensleydale with Cherries
Tesco Finest Creamy Lancashire with Apricots
Tesco Finest Double Gloucester with Peppadew peppers
Tesco Finest Mature Cheddar with Shallots and Chives

All priced at £9.99 per kilo on the pack: £ 9.95 on the shelf. Took one of each and walked off with £12 worth of free cheese :D

(Well, obviously I went and got them refunded ;) )

I've just come back from my local Tesco. The cornfed chicken are still overpriced, and this is really naughty since in my store it actually has a large promotional sign as well as the little label, and a lot of old dears were picking them up thinking they were getting a bargain. QUOTE]

Yes the promotion is supposed to be 2.49 per kg on corn fed chickens marked 2.99 kg on actual item, they have removed all the big labels in stores, and have a little sticker with the exceptional offer of 2.99 crossed out and the new promotion price ......... 2.99 (but hurry offer ends 10.9.05).

I am fairly sure that these are supposed to be 2.49, but the stores have now either removed all pricing labels, or have the one stated above.

I think it is very naughty indeed, and at every opportunity I will stitch them for whatever they have on the shelf (providing they have a pricing label somewhere), to teach them a lesson. They don't taste bad with roast pots, stuffing, and veg either. It seems to be a common thread in Mr T's that they simply put a new label on the shelf for the price on the item even when they know the item price is wrong and the previous shelf on is right. I have noted that this results in a nationally based store having the same product at different stores on the same day at different prices, the organic £12.99 or £14.99 steak is one such item, that varies from store to store.
